My husband and I recently had lunch at Olivia's. We have been here several times, and think it is a fine place for a meal. This time my husband decided to order a milk shake. What came out was NOT a milk shake. It was ice, milk, strawberry flavor, and a tiny amount of ice cream.
My husband couldn't even drink it. To his credit, the server noticed that the shake was untouched, and asked if it was alright. We told him that is wasn't the best, and he took it back and promised to fix it. When it came back it was more of the same.
The service was great, and he did take care of us. We didn't drink the second one either, and we were not charged. BUT if you find yourself at Olivia's... do NOT order the milk shake. The main ingredient for us, was ice; not ice cream.
Now, I have worked in the restaurant industry for years, so I am not unreasonable, and I know that each menu item will not be perfect 100% of the time. I also know that we LOVE selling milk shakes, because we can charge decent price, and make a good profit. It is easy to make a good shake inexpensively. What rubs me the wrong way about this milk shake was the egregious cost cutting measure at the expense of a quality product.
The milk shake was around $5.00. At that price point you should be served a premium ice cream shake mixed with half & half or cream, as well as a flavor agent. The restaurant would still have a profit of 75% or so. I know you are paying for real estate at WDW, and I accept that, but I also expect a decent product. This shake would have been a rip off at 1$
I hope that the restaurant does not continue this practice.
