Sad Budget Buster

Well, we were pretty sure we weren't going to be able to do Disney this summer and decided to start the process for credit counseling. Then came a sudden, sad budget buster. We had to put our beloved dog, Max to sleep. Long story short, he was fine on Monday morning when we went to work/school and was vomiting blood by Monday afternoon and had purple splotches under his fur. Fast forward to Tuesday nite, after a day in the special Animal Hospital (our vet did all they could do there) and he is worse, covered in purple splotches, bleeding out all orifices, platelet count almost non-existent, severely anemic, and jaundiced. Animal hospital said it was mostly likely a fast acting cancer. I know we made the right decision, but the whole process cost close to $2000. :scared1: Now we are worse in debt and terribly sad. Max was a good dog who wore his Mickey Mouse collar with pride! Our other dog is actually moping around the house and constantly looking out the window for Max! I guess it just really sucks to add this to the credit counseling issue and then really have it hit home that we can't visit "the World" this year, which we were really looking forward to. Sorry, just had to vent:sad1:

I am so sorry. We had to put our dog to sleep. She had cancer as well. I am sorry about your credit problems at the same time. I have been in a credit counseling program for 3 years and 1 year to go. I wish you the best of luck with your decision. I could not have even thought about a vacation 3 years ago. By the way, my DS11 still "sees" our dog in the clouds.

That is so sad. It's so hard to put a dog to sleep, and to have to do it so quickly... :grouphug:

:sad1:My heart is breaking for you. My doggie is 15 now and I know I don't have much time with him left. I am so sorry for your loss.

Oh my. We just had to put our dachshund Freddie to sleep two weeks ago. He was fine when we left work and when my husband came home. But, when he jumped on the couch, he started acting funny and wasn't using his hind legs or end. We took him to the vet, and he had a ruptured disc in his back. He deteriorated in a matter of hours and we ended up putting him to sleep at the emergency vet later that night. He went from perfectly healthy to passed away in a matter of six hours. It was very shocking.
So, I know what you are going through, and I'm so sorry it's happening to you. Hugs.

oh honey I am so, so sorry. {{hugs}} He is now in Heaven looking down on you with love. Do a search on the "Rainbow Bridge". It is a poem. It is really touching. It makes me cry every time I read it but is has given me solace when my furbaby passed away. Our dog, CadyMay is starting to deteriorate. She's 10 and a sheperd mix. Her hips are giving her such troubles.

So sorry. Our cat, Dude, also went from yowling for his dinner to dead in a three hour period. The Emergency Vet thinks he 'threw" a blood clot. Hugs to you and your family on the loss of a good friend. Here is the link for the above mentioned poem.

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your loss.
My dog is 9. had vet here last week as he just was not right, acted strange and was very sluggish. She took blood said it is not lyme and his platelets are off (I cannot even recall now if they were up or down, I think down) I love him so much. He seemed to be sore on his spine and she gave me some meds, now seems okay, but I am still so worried.
HUGS to you, again so very sorry! :grouphug:

 to you and your family. It's never easy, especially when it happens so suddenly.

I am so sorry for your loss of Max :sad1:

sorry that its all happening at once...really seems like it goes that way sometimes, doesn't it:headache::hug:

This happened to my Dad. His Collie just laid down to go to sleep and didn't wake up again. The vet thought that his heart just gave out.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry about Max. :grouphug:

We had to put our 18 year old cat, Tazzie, to sleep last Saturday. She was a sweet cat. We've had 4 cats over the years and she was the one that lasted the longest. For the first time in 18 years we don't have a cat in the house. It's so sad. :sad1:

:grouphug:
We lost our cat this past September. One day she was there and fine and the next morning she was gone. She was almost 17. I still miss her.

I had to put my doggie to sleep too on dec 21. It was very hard as so many other not so great things happened around the same time.

I had her privately cremated so I could bury the remains where I felt it would be best. Since we live in an apartment, there's no where here to do it. She died of cancer too, huge mass that started growing on the underside by her leg. She did fine for a while, and when I woke up one more to see her sprawled out on the kitchen floor, I just knew it was time to let her go. She held up a good fight for some time.

When I got "her" back, it came with a certificate with that poem and her paw print on it. The hardest part of letting her go, was putting her on the floor after it was done, because I held her in my lap. And the other hard part is reminding myself that when I open the door, she's not going to be on the other side. But I know it was best for her, and it was just as painful to see her in pain.

I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved pet....:( and now this puts more strain on your finances. {{Hugs}} to you ....
