Sad Breaking Disney News.....11/29/2011

I don't have any direct information about this, but this morning, the Today Show aired a video of a crash at LMA involving a motorcycle stuntman being hit by one of the cars and being flipped up in the air. They said he wasn't seriously injured and it was reported to them that he'd been back at work the very next day.

As soon as I recovered from the shock of the video (they didn't identify the location, but I recognized the set immediately), I thought it might have been related to this report. They didn't indicate when the video was made, but since the video story has a happy ending, I'm hoping this was it, and they airlifted him out after the accident just to make sure he was okay in a hurry.

No, that happened at a theme park in Brazil. The set truly does resemble LMA, though.

I don't recall hearing much about injuries from this particular show before. With that being said, my immediate thought that it was a backstage cast member who was not necessarily working in this area. It sounds as if the helicopter needed a place to land and to do so quickly.

Take my word that it has happened before. When I was a CM, we had a female get transferred over from LMA because she was in a major crash while practicing for the show.

I've also been in the vicinity when a CM had a heart attack (backstage) and a guest committed suicide  (in a resort) and neither made the news. They do have a way of keeping some things quiet, so if natural causes is the case, we may never hear a peep.

I also saw the monorail crash just a few minutes after it occurred. Takes a lot of magic away :headache:

These all occurred several years ago. I do have friends that work in backlands attractions so I'll see what I can find out.. if I can share it, I will. But I will respect their privacy if it's on the down-low.

On any given day a LOT can happen at WDW. Think about it, the place is massive and on a busy day I would guess there are as many people on property as a large city. The odds of sudden illness or accidents have to be high with that many people around. I think the only time that the media gets involved is if Disney may have been at fault.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2Your so right this had nothing to do with this show the only place a helicopter can land in dhs is that show. They need to evactue that and back lot for safety it was a cm that most likely had a heart attack or a stroke. If it was Disney fault wesh would be camped out side of Disney with 24/7 live coverage.

I was leaving HS about that time and wondered why the helicopter was flying so low over the park.

One night we were there and Wishes was running late and we later found out it was because a guest had a broken leg and the helicopter needed to land behind MK to transport. There was a story in this week's cast magazine about someone having a seizure at Disney University and how other cast members helped her out.

Think of the stuff that happens in your town and your city every day, well, that same stuff happens at WDW.

we was in epcot once and walked in to one of the Innoventions buildings passed a cm seating drawing with some kids. Then we see other cms run past us and one calling on a radio so we turn around and see the cm we pasted on the floor we think he was having a seizure. One of the cms made sure to say on radio his name and made us believe that he may have had a history of seizures. Which helped and them get him the right medical help.

I had forgotten about this, but a few years ago we were at AK headed to Expedition Everest, we came up to an older man sitting on a bench, he was all red in the face and you could see he was having difficulty breathing. I was just about to go up and ask if needed help when a CM came out of nowhere asking if he was okay, the man just shook his head, CM got on his radio and in no time there was a CM on one of those little golf cart things pulling up to the man and they took him away. I remember being amazed how fast it happened and wondering where the CM came from and how they knew the man was in distress.
