I'm in the same boat and not far from you either. My husband leaves on May 31 for his language school in Texas (anyone here from Pasadena texas) he'll be there for 32 days than on to Fort McCoy for another 30 days and than Fort Bragg where he will than ship out for Iraq. Basically he's not home after next Sunday. Like you we are Army Reserves (DH is a Civil Affairs officer from Tigard) and also have kids at home (ages 14 and 9) My kids are the ones having a REALLY hard time my DD at almost 9 isn't sleeping and crying at school all the time. Shes so scared. PM me....not only are we neighbors (we live in St Helens) but were "family"....no what I mean. No one else understands this like another military family. Good luck to you and God sped and bless your husband.....(maybe the guys know each other...DH was National Guard untill a couple years ago....small world)

Wow-----you all are so nice----tears just started welling up in my eyes reading all the kind words. What great people are on the DIS.

DH is on his weekend drill right now; he said he will either get the orders this weekend or mid-week next week. So much to think about and get organized.

The silver lining I can see right now is that they are sending more soldiers to help bolster our troop strength which will mean added security for everyone over there. Thank you for sacrificing like this. It is terrifying I know. I am weaker than you - many moons ago I decided I could not be an Army wife, thank goodness because I met my amazing husband, but it showed me how much strength it takes to stay home while they are fighting.

My best friend's husband in in Afghanistan. I don't know how military wives do it; I try to help her as much as I can. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for a safe tour of duty for your husband and support and comfort for you and your boys.

Everytime I see another post like this, all the scary feelings I've been surpressing come back up. See, my DH is 21 yrs Army National Guard...and we've been living this waiting game too since 9/11.

We watched alot of friends get deployed in the past 2 yrs...some have recently started coming home .....but then I know that means that more need to go ....and I worry it maybe DH next.

We've been searching for a home (actually, just another condo to move to)....and actually put an offer on a house recently....and told myself if we didn't get it, it would be for the best. Well, we didn't get the house.....so we've resigned ourselves to stay here in this condo for a while.....and I'm wondering if someone is trying to tell us something by not letting us get the house. Know what I mean?
