Despite the fact I KNEW I should have done it sooner - trying to get 5 people to agree where they want to eat is not easy in my family!
I went to make dinner reservations this weekend for our trip in November. Of the restaurants we wanted to eat at - on (le cellier) I coulndt get in at all:headache: , and the other 2, (coral reef and Teppan Edo) I could only get 8PM reservations for. This will make it a challenge with an 82 year old and a 5 year old, as well as a bummer to miss Illuminations.:sad2:

Just keep calling...cancellations happen all the time. Hopefully you'll be able to get times closer to what you were looking for.

Keep on calling, hopefully something opens up.

Lots of times it's better to make reservations for the hot spots and cancel them if you can't get everyone agree on where to go. (This is one reason that you may luck out with a cancellation)

There is a thread here for November reservations where people offer up cancellations for other Dis'ers - you may want to keep an eye on that too.

Now, for the hard part, what to do about your 8pm reservations....

Really consider your group and how they will handle a reservation for that late. No restaurant is going to make or break your trip, but overstimulated and overtired children can really negatively affect your trip. Also consider it's not only the late dinner that night, it's the fact that you'll be out late that night and what time do you need to get to the park in the morning?

I am not saying cancel what you've got, but consider a different restaurant that may have an earlier time.

You can book an earlier time somewhere else now, and then cancel that if you get Coral Reef or Teppan Endo at the time you need it to be.

It's frustrating I know

The last 4 times I have been, I have been shut out of Le Cellier

Are you flexable for lunch? We couldnt get Le cellier for dinner at 5 months out but I was able to have several lunch openings to chose from.

I agree... keep calling!

This just happened to me and I could've smacked myself for waiting too long to do our ADRs.

One of the things I did was to change some of the places we were going to eat at (Where I couldn't get the ADR). It got me out of our comfort level and we're going to try a few new restaurants that we wouldn't have tried if I could have gotten those ADRs. I'm going to look at it as a blessing in disguise. ;)

If there's something special you want just keep trying after you arrive. One trip we just ran outta luck with some dinner attempts but found better luck with lunch, and that opened the evenings more for parks and just winging-it for a snack. Sometimes that's more fun, anyway!

I know you'll have a great time!

What are your dates? I have a Le Cellier to give away

The popularity of the DDP is the culprit IMO. I know for us we almost NEVER ate at TS places until it was part of our dinning package. Now I wouldn't do without them. On a recent trip that changed significantly from when it was originally booked due to sickness in the family, I literally was making ADR the day of. While I did get shut out of all the main places I wanted to eat, I did find some new places I would not have considered that will most likely become a regular feature on future trips. Think of it as an "adventure" :thumbsup2 Mickey would not serve up anything that wasn't good for you. :)

I can highly recommend Coral Reef for lunch; and so can our 5yo! Call and see if you can get lunch there. We had a ressie for 2ish, but I think lunch goes until 3pm. You could easily be finishing between 4-5 making it simply an early dinner.

We are going to the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner one evening in Nov. and I'm looking forward to that after reading a review here on the Dis. The resort I expect will be lovely and I'm thinking we can even take the boat over to add to the magic a bit :goodvibes . Maybe try for an earlier time there? Good luck!

I had to cancel O'Hana's on our arrival nite. Now my airline changed our flights 2 hours earlier. I decided to go to Kona's Cafe and watch the fireworks after. So keep checking, people cancel all the time.

While I know OP is disappointed not to get Le Cellier....

I have to say that I think the quality has taken a DIVE. It seems to be a victim of it's own success.

There are lots of better places that are easier to get into!

What are your dates you are going?

Did you try to get Le Cellier for lunch? We have been to both dinner and lunch and there is not much difference. We are going for lunch this November.

You might try to get into Tokyo dining instead of Teppan Edo. It is right next door and has beautiful views of the lagoon. We really enjoyed eating there on our last trip. They also take the DDP.

:)

When I called at 180 days from my check in date - so actually 182 days out - I called right at 6:00am (my time), I was unable to get LeCellier for 5 people. I was shocked. I was able to get it for a night at the end of our stay at 188 days out at 7:30pm.

Our last trip we couldn't get it at all and my DH said he HAD to try it this time! So I had to switch around all of my carefully planned days and we are going to be in Epcot on a Saturday during Food and Wine festival. Oh well!

In a case like this you want to call at exactly 180 days from the date that you're dining there. They release tables at 190 days, but save some tables to release at 180 days.

Kristina, you will like the GF Cafe. Their food is very good and the servers were so nice. Lots of choices.
