Hi all,
How do you all deal with outside people sabotaging your diet?

I had a rough long weekend. It seemed like everyone was against me getting in shape. Some friends brought over donuts, mostly for my daughter. I don't feel too bad, but I did have one. Then my dad brought me over soda. I've just completed week 1 without soda and it was sooooo very hard. I saw the 2 twelve packs of pepsi and started to cry. He's 77 and means well, and doesn't remember I'm on a diet so what can I do? He's been bringing treats over, and my daughter has a bite of it and then she doesn't want anymore, but I've been so very good and have been throwing out the junk. And my last rant... my family picked a restaurant that has no healthy food. Everything is fried, or smothered in alfredo sauce, no fat free dressing, etc.. ughhh what a week, I'm glad I stayed the same and didn't gain. But it didn't help my motivation any.

So what does every one else do to keep on the straight and skinny. I think I'm forced to locking the doors and searching them before they enter! LOL!!

Good luck to you all, this is a new week and a good week!

If you have a bad week. Don't keep thinking about it, let it go! This is a new week so try to stay on track. Remember the extra weight took a while to get there and it will take a while to go away. You still have to live and sometimes you will fall off the wagon.

Have a good healthy week and let us know how it goes.:smooth:

I'm so sorry to hear you're having 'family' problems. I don't have any 1st hand advice, my husband and families are pretty supportive and most of them have healthier than I do. This is a promise you have made to yourself to see throught o the end and make no apologizes for it. Explain to your family that this is your goal and you will have to be a little strick with your habits until you loose the weight. Then you can have a treat ..on occassion!!! It has to be hard with kids..mine only a year so it's not a problem-yet! That is the hardest thing to do - throw away a perfectly beautiful donut!! Good for you..be strong!! Explain to your dad that you appreciate his thoughts but no soda's or treats are necessary..the grandkids can get a treat from grandpa at his house.

One of Dr Phil's keys was to eliminate (at least temporarily) the people in your life that do not offer support. My best friend is overweight and has no desire to commit to losing weight. I've had to decline so many things with her because I know I would be around food (I am saving my self for the Fair next month;) ).

You are a part of the family and you have a say in where you eat. Pick several of your choices and have the family choose from that list.

Good luck

I just deal with the junk food being in the house. I feel that I have to change my eating habits for life, so it is about the choices that I make. I have 2 DD's 6 and 9 and although they do not eat a lot of junk food, they like to eat stuff that is a no-no for me. I am not about to tell them that they can't have it because I made some poor choices in my life. If we are going out to eat I do a little research and find out what types of food are available on the menu. If there are no healthy choices I phone the restaurant and discuss the menu with them. I find that most places are very accomodating, and will try and work with you to provide something that you can eat.

Sorry to hear of your tough week. You will just have to keep going. It is not a sin to have an occasional feast. Healthy people do it and you can, too. Just don't let it get you down, keep your commitment to your new healthy lifestyle and move on. If you feel sabotaged every time someone eats a no-no in front of you, you will have a very tough go. Our world is full of no-nos and that is why we got into this mess. Clean it up girlfriend! Together, we can do it!
Oh yea! What do I do? I have no family to tempt me, unless I visit them. It is hard and I usually wind up with a very slow progress if I spend too much time with them. They are totally unsympathetic. All are obese themselves and I have to play the DH type 2 card if I want any decent food when we're together. It totally sucks! But I just keep on keepin' on!

Keep the Faith!
