SAB priviledges

I have a question about use of SAB at Beach Club. I know that there are not pool hopping priviledges at SAB, but can you use it if you are a BCV owner and are staying at another resort?

You have to be staying there to Guarentee to use it but you can always ask. I don't believe being an owner makes a difference

No, you must be staying at YC/BC, or BCV to use SAB. If you are staying anywhere else, DVC BCV owner or not, you may not use the SAB pool.

If you are staying off-site, you can't use any of the pools.

If you are staying on points at a DVC resort and pool-hopping is not blacked out, you can swim at any pool except for all the YC/BC/BCV pools and the AKL pool. The pools at the Swan/Dolphin are not Disney pools, so you can't swim there, either.

If you want to swim at SAB, you must be a guest at YC/BC/BCV. If you want to swim at AKL, you must be a guest at AKL.

If you are DVC member, but not staying on points at a DVC resort, you can only swim at the pool at your resort (and any sister resorts to that resort, like the All Stars pools). Ft Wilderness and VWL/WL are not sister resorts.

Correct.. Staying at BCV/BC/YC is the only way to get privelages to swim in the pool...

Being an owner at the resort does not grant you any rights to use the pool outside of when you stay there..

If that were the case, all of the FL DVC members could use any of the pools any time there were in the area... (I have nothing against Florida DVC members... (I hope to be one one day.. ) ) This would cause over capacity issues and no one would ever get a chair by the pool..

I visit 3 times a year. I keep my favorite pool lounges reserved with my own personal beach towel.....

We never were asked to show that we were guests, and we went back two more times. I know this will upset some people, but I think the real concern comes during the busy times.

It is possible they have enforced this policy more since we were there.

During all of our more recent (within the past 4 years) stays at the Beach Club, we have had to show our room keys to a lifeguard stationed at an entrance, and the past couple of times have gotten a wristband to wear while in the pool area...

The information might come in useful some day if I ever treat my sister-in-law to a stay at BWV while DW and I stay at BCV.

No, you'd be able to hop over the BWV though. Or if you aren't at room capacity, you could ask for another room key.

It isn't about the silly pool it is about living your life in the right way.

Certainly hope not the pool would become awfully crowded if every owner on site was able to use the pool regardless of where they are staying.

First off, I also immensely dislike it when people don't follow the rules.

That stated, I'll share with you all a little "secret." As a DVC member who has stayed twice at the BC, I can confidently state this: usage security at SAB is highly, highly overrated.

Due to school schedules, my family only visits WDW during busy seasons. When we’ve stayed at BVC at those times and gone to SAB, over half the time the entry gates aren't even being manned by a CM.

Annoying? Yes, but we felt a little better when were asked to show our resort ID when we picked up towels. Problem is, more often than not no one was manning the towel station either, so in numeorus cases nobody asked.

When bracelet handouts do happen at the gate, we have seen people getting into SAB without going through them. In fact, during our last visit (when I was assessing the crowd at SAB on a hot late June day) I estimated that at least a quarter of those in the pool didn’t have bracelets on. And no, CMS weren’t exactly yanking those people out.

So while I don’t approve of any of this, any generalization that there is regular, aggressive enforcement of pool hopping policy at SAB is IMHO a DIS urban myth. Again, that doesn't justify those who abuse that. Rather, it implies that if Disney is really serious about the policy, they need to be more serious about enforcing it.

We are so busy when we go to Disney, that we hardly ever go to any pool. My married son complains, that we pay all this money to stay at these expensive hotels ex: AKL Savanna View, and never get in the pool. Every Disney resort guest does not have a pool day, I do not break rules, even when we stayed at the Y/C, we did not get into the pool. I was not a DVC owner then...really did not realize SAB was such a great pool. When we walked by SAB to go to the parks, hardly anyone was in the pool. This was not in the Summer.
