I just thought of something else. If your home resort is BC - can you always use Stormalong Bay...... whether you're staying there or not?

Also, if you're staying at a regular hotel such as Port Orleans can you pool hop to other pools with your DVC membership?

Thanks again!:)

You can not pool hop to Stormalong Bay or AKL, you can pool hop to all other pools unless it is busy then you may have some restrictions. I do not know the answer to the second question about staying at another resort and pool hopping to another as a DVC member, my guess is yes. It would be so rare I doubt anyone would notice. If you have a room key to the other hotel and you DVC card, I would say yes.

You can only use SAB if you are staying at BCV, being a member at BCV doesn't give you privlidges to use it if you aren't staying there. Also, you can only pool hop if you are staying on points not paying cash for your rooms. So, if you're using points for your POR stay, then yes you can hop, if you're paying cash, then the answer is no.

Pool hopping requires a vaild room ID identifying you as a DVC Member. You'll need to be staying on points or a "member cash" reservation to be able to pool hop. As long as your room ID says "DVC Member" you'll be OK for hopping.

...and, according to the way the pool hopping wording has normally been, you must be staying at a DVC resort--staying on points at other WDW resorts does not make one eligible to pool hop according to the DVC policy (unless it has changed).

The policy hasn't changed. I copied the following from the Members' website so everyone can read it for themselves:

Pool-Hopping Information for 2003

Members and their Guests staying with them at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Beach Club Villas are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World® resort hotel pools (in addition to the resort hotel at which you are staying) if the resort hotel pools are not at capacity. If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that resort hotel. Please check with a Host/Hostess at the Front Desk of the resort hotel you wish to visit to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your Walt Disney World® Resort ID card with your "DVC Member" designation on it to use the other pools. This offer is not available at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" during the following dates*:

May 23 - 26, 2003
June 30, 2003 - July 6, 2003
November 24 - 30, 2003
December 20, 2003 - January 3, 2004

*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

We were really annoyed this past November(Nov. 1,2,3,4,5,6) when we couldn't use SAB.
We were "Home" at BWV and there were about 10 people in the entire pool, yet they wouldn't allow us to enter.

Some ideas have merit, but they need to be implemented in a consistent manor that provides a pleasant experience for the guests. This policy does not fall into that category!

Pool hopping at SAB has been discontinued at all times, not just peak season times. Fortunately, this is being implemented in a consistent manner.

This has been convered extensively on these boards...the policy was not implemented because SAB capacity was threatened year round. This policy was implemented because SAB in peak times would be at capacity AND because it was easier to just do it as a blanket policy then to be constantly dealing with people checking to see if it was or was not at capacity AND also - and this last one is the one that some people naively have trouble believing but definitely weighed in the decision-

to help sell BCV by making SAB exclusively for those who were staying there. There is little else that makes BCV different from BWV in such a great way -certainly not enough to sway people to buy there (at a much higher price)as opposed to BWV.
