S5is worth buying?

I have the S2 and would like to know what others think as well. I was seriously considering taking the leap to a digital SLR when I saw the S5 at Best Buy. I keep going over the pros and cons of going to digital SLR vs the S2 or S5.
Argh! I wish it wasn't so difficult to decide!

While the S3 is still on the market, I see it as a better deal unless there is just some feature the S5 has that you must have. Comparing the S5 to a DSLR is apples to oranges. They are very different with good and bad things about each. For example, the DSLR image quality is without any doubt much better, but it would not exactly be known as compact and easily portable.

As for an upgrade from a S2 to S5, I would save the money if you are considering a DSLR in the future.

Not to mention the fact that most of the DSLR lenses that can match the 432mm reach of the S3's zoom cost more than 2 or 3 S3s!

Will the IQ be better? Of course. Will the IQ be $1,000 or $2,000 better? That's for each person to decide on their own....

Based on everything I've seen, the S5 is a great camera but the S3 is still a better value. The additional features of the S5, to me, aren't worth the $$$ difference, but they might be to someone else.

As far as IQ goes, the Canon S-series is very good for a P&S superzoom; it generally gets the best marks on the camera rating sites.

I am may order the S5 today. I can get it for $383.00. I know that DSLR's have much better image quality than any other type out there, but I think that the S5 (with practice) can produce awesome pictures. And like LPZ Stitch! said, youre getting a zoom that would cost alot more than you would be willing to pay (on top of the DSLR's price) :)
