Anyone here try this yet? Is it worth using as an amateur? I've downloaded it, and played a bit with it today, but I'm not sure if I'll bother keeping it. The only difference I could see between the raw file, and jpg it created, was the raw file had a suttle blue tint to it, and seemed to take a slightly larger picture (I'm talking about area of the picture, and not filesize, as I knew filesize would be bigger).

Now, i'm a beginer photographer, so I don't fully know what bennefit there is to using RAW images as opposed to JPGs. So maybe someone can fill me in on that.

There are a few threads on this topic, although your title is misleading since it's not limited to the S3 and the hack does a lot more than RAW. Here's the most recent thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1444331

RAW is used if you want to do your own post-processing. It'll take a while to learn how to get good at it. If you're happy with your JPGs and don't feel you'd want to change the white balance, sharpen/soften, etc. then there isn't much reason to shoot in RAW. That's not to say you wouldn't find the other features of the hack useful.

well.. ya... I knew it worked for other cameras as well.. just titled it that way, cause that's what I have! :)

The only other feature I found handy was the battery indicator... which I forgot about till just now... Perhaps I'll keep using it then if for anything the battery indicator...

Thanks for the info about RAW format.

Yeah, I did the same thing a while ago in this thread.

I've been using the hack a lot (more for the battery indicator, zebra mode and live color histograms than RAW) and really like it.
