We have tickets to see the Lion King on 9/25/01 at 8pm. We are staying at the Beverly Garland Hotel. My question is how do we get there? What have you done? Its either take a taxi or rent a car for that one night or rent a car for the 2 nights (from LAX and back to LAX).

I need suggestions on what to do and the cheapest way to do it.

We are staying at the Beverly Garland for 2 nights (seeing Universal Studios first night and 2nd day go see Hollywood and then that night see Lion King) and then going to DL/DCA for 2 nights. Right now we are thinking about taking Supershuttle from LAX to Beverly Garland and after our 2 nights are over taking the SuperShuttle back to LAX and pick up Supershuttle to GC at DL/DCA and then back on the Supershuttle to LAX.

Any suggestions on what to do.

Where is TiffanyTown car when you need them!!

Oh heavens, don't take Super Shuttle BACK to the airport to get to Disneyland. There are plenty of cab companies and town car services around that will transport you directly to your DL hotel. It won't be cheap but it will be MUCH more direct; you'll easily spend 2-3 hours just getting from North Hollywood to LAX to Anaheim.

The simplest thing to do would be to rent a car for your whole trip with all the different places you plan to visit and the plans you have. If you don't want to deal with the traffic, though, then I would take a taxi to and from the Pantages from the Beverly Garland Hotel. The Hotel is in North Hollywood, the theatre is in Hollywood, and it's probably a 20-minute cab ride. Be sure to arrange a return cab pick-up, though, cabs are not readily available in Los Angeles.

You're going to LOVE the Lion King, I can't wait to go back for my second time in December. Enjoy! :)

My DH is asking if you know is there secure parking at the Pantages Theatre? My DH is kinda upset that we have tickets to the show due to its putting a kink in this vacation due to how to get there and back safely. I am personally glad we have the tickets due to this is a great show to watch.

If we rent a car for the 5 days (last time I checked) it was approx $300.00 with National (sorry I do not have a code to get this discounted. If anyone knows a code I could use please email me a minybaer@aol.com).

Your right about the traffic (per my DH), but my DH and myself are still confused on what to do about this situation. I know its not going to be cheap, but I want the more economical and fastest and safest way to get to and from.

Sorry I am very confused on what to do. Right now I have until 8/25 to cancel Super Shuttle (I paid this with our package with Disney Travel Company).

Thanks
Cindy

Ok I canceled Super Shuttle, but I will not get that $60 refund from Disney Travel for 5-6 wks :(:. I rented on line with Alamo for $238 which includes prepaid gas and full insurance on a midside car. Is this a good price? Does anyone have a discounted code I could use for this time? If you do please email that code for me at minybaer@aol.com.

Thanks

Cindy

Hi Cindy!

There is not one separate parking lot at the Pantages, there are several small lots around the area. Although Hollywood is not the nicest area in the world, I felt perfectly safe there at night with the large theatre crowds.

I understand about not wanting to drive, so I would recommend you keep Super Shuttle to get you from the airport to the Beverly Garland Hotel and from the Grand Californian back to LAX. I'd take the cab to/from the Pantages for the Lion King, and to get from the Beverly Garland to the Grand Californian I'd take a town car service (probably cheaper than a taxi and nicer). Super Shuttle has a division called ExecuCar that is a town car service, and you can call them to get a quote for the cost to get from the Beverly Garland to the Grand Californian. Here is the link the Super Shuttle page, scroll down a bit for the ExecuCar info and phone number:

There are LOTS of other transportation companies in Los Angeles so I'm sure you will find one that will meet your needs.

Please DON'T MISS Lion King, it's definitely worth the cab ride back and forth! :)

Have FUN!

Thanks for your info. Since your email I did a lot of calling. I called ExecuCar and from Beverly Garland to GC is $94.30 which includes grat and from LAX to Beverly Garland on Super Shuttle is $42 and from GC to LAX on Super Shuttle is $28 and then I have no idea how much a taxi will be. Total is $164.30.

How is this? I will talk to my DH and see what he says. Any more suggestions.

Would you do this or just rent a car for $238 for the 5 days?

Cindy, unless you guys are totally comfortable with driving in LA traffic I think I would go with all the different shuttle/taxi transportation you have planned over the rental car. :) If you were just going from the airport to the DL Hotels then a rental car would be fine, but you are traveling over many different areas of Southern California, and that can be daunting if you're not used to it.

If the traffic and finding your way around do not bother you, then the rental car will be fine. :)

Thanks. My DH was in LA 2 wks ago for a school and he said he was driving around LA so he is not as STRESSED out as before, but I will let him view your post this evening when I get home from work and see what he says. To me I think the rental car will be better and basicly about the same cost depending on how much the taxi will be (if it doesn't go over $75).

I just called the cab company its only $15-17 per way to the Pantages Theatre. WOW thats great.
