We booked a studio room with a preferred view. My question is, what do they consider a preferred view and is there a specific room we should request to get a room with a balcony(I know not all have that) We'd like to be near the laundry facility as well. I believe that is on the third floor. Any helpful information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Preferred at BWV = Pool/Garden view, which might get you a view of Village Green but more likely will be a view of one of the pools. The Luna Park Pool view can be noisy, especially in the afternoons when CMs are leading activities, whereas a view of the quiet pool is, well, more likely to be quiet!

As far as I know all BWV rooms have balconies.

Unfortunately we don’t use the laundry room so I don’t know where it is; if you want to be near it, that’s what I’d request.

The BW resort map is here - https://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/BoardWalkMap.pdf. BWV is on the left, the Inn is on the right.

I believe laundry is on the first floor near the elevators but there may be a second location as well.

Sorry we always have a one bedroom with the laundry in the room

Mary, there is no preferred view category so I don't know how to answer that.....BWV's have 3 different view categories.....they are: Resort, Garden/pool, and Boardwalk view....My guess is by preferred you mean BW view, which overlooks the entire Boardwalk....all rooms have balconies...Laundry is on floor # 1 right off the elevators to the right.......

Thank you everyone. I was under the impression that the laundry facilities were on the third floor. Thank you for clarifying. When we booked our room, the reservation stated it was preferred view. We wanted to book a standard view but there were none available.

Preferred is a Pool Garden room.

They changed the categories across the resorts.

BWV has Boardwalk View, Preferred, and Resort view now.

Edit: Correct Standard to Resort

When BWV opened, there were two booking categories, Standard and Preferred. Preferred included what’s now P/G view and BW view, with BW view being only a request. BW view became a separate booking category after too many guests who didn’t get their request reportedly let their disappointment be known loudly at the front desk. Preferred view and P/G view are two names for the same view - I think the BWV points charts call it Preferred.

Preferred in the point charts is pool/garden view in the online room reservation section. See the map on this page for locations of pool/garden (p/g) views (in red), which are about 60% of all rooms: www.disboards.com/threads/bwv-views.3815867/ Pool/Garden view Studios have balconies except the ones that are on the ground floor which have patios. Thus, if you want a balcony, the request to make is higher floor.

Requesting near the elevator would provide being closest to the laundry room. A different request often made with p/g studios is for a view of the Village Green, which also provides a partial boardwalk view and for being fairly close to the elevator. Though there are no ground floor rooms in that area, you should also request high floor because rooms on the second floor in that area can have essentially no view at all because the balconies are under a wall arch rising above the store on the first floor. Also, be aware that no matter what you request for location, such requests are not guaranteed, and, if the request cannot be met when rooms are being assigned, they do not attempt to find something close to your request but just place you in any available room, which could be very far from the elevator.
