s/o vent about clothing in general

DD15 sounds like she is the same size/build. The "skinny" jeans are really not the greatest look on most kids. She needs a size 3 in "non-skinny" jeans but has to go up to a 5 and wear a belt in the "skinny" jeans. This does eliminate the undies hanging out the back issue though. She gets most of her jeans at Aeropostile or Am Eagle-just not the really low cut ones. I have tried to get her to look in the misses department for jeans as they would fit her figure much better, but what do I know :lmao:. She gets mostly small tops and they fit her just right. She is very slender but she is muscular.

Skinny jeans aren't good for most adults either!

Well, for #1 a small banded bra does not offer proper support for a large cup so most manufacturers don't make them.

Number 2, I agree, standard clothing sizes for ALL clothing would be nice.

The OP is talking about band size as in 32/34/36 etc. That doesn't really have anything to do with support. If your rib cage is small, then wearing a too-large band size is not going to be very supportive anyway.

Right! Thank you.

Costly, but.. Do you have a really high-end bra store near you - that actually specializes in bras? My former SIL had all kinds of bra issues and that was the only place she could get what she needed.. They would actually take measurements and have the bras made to suit her needs.. They were extremely expensive - but they were perfect and lasted a long, long time..

Just a thought..:goodvibes

If it makes you feel any better, the opposite is also true. It is nearly impossible to find a larger banded bra that is not at least a DD.

Before I lost weight, I was a 40C, which was very hard to find. When I would find a bra that fit well, I'd just buy a bunch of the same exact one.

Also when I was heavier, plus size never fit me right. I really needed a 20R or XXL, which were also hard to find. When I tried 18W or 1X the cut wasn't right. Shoulders and chest too big and but too baggy. 18R or XL wouldn't fit around my hips.

I used to say I either needed to gain weight or lose weight. I chose to loose it and now 80lbs lighter I find it much easier to find clothes that fit properly, but it's still a pain. Especially since I'm not really sure what size I should be, yet. I hate clothes shopping and always find it so frustrating that DH picks up a pair of pants, checks the size, doesn't even have to unfold them to look to see what the size really looks like, and buys them without trying them on, knowing that they'll fit fine.

That's a good idea, but I don't want to spend that much money on bras. I also like having variety.

Congratulations on losing 80 lbs!!

It will be more fun without the extra weight. I've lost almost 40 and while I didn't think of myself as big at my heaviest, it makes a difference.

I disagree. The support in a bra comes from the band, not the cup. A larger banded bra will offer more support. Try some one and compare. I am a 34/36 and wear a "larger" banded bra. They are far more comfortable and offer more support.

On the bra size not all larger size women are women, some are girls who would like the cute polka dots or prints without paying a fortune. My DD has been a 36 D since early high school and looks longingly at the colorful bras in the junior dept but they rarely go large enough.

My Gripe dear clothes manufacturers please show me were all these 5'10 size 2's are? I sure don't see many walking around so why do you make your size 2 dresses long enough for a runway model.

Yes a thicker band will offer more support but.... we are talking about size. I am a 36 DD, almost DDD and if I ever had to buy a 38 band size, it would not fit me correctly and slide up and down. Hence, not the correct support at all.

My biggest problem is finding something , especially a dress, that fits my whole body. I tried on this gorgeous dress yesterday and managed to zip it up until it hit just at my mid-back and then it had about 5 inches apart on the zipper because it wouldn't fit over my chest. It was perfect everywhere else. I really need something nice for my brother's wedding that's fits me everywhere and I'm sick of buying things that fit my chest but make me look like a house for the rest of my body. I am not "skinny" but I am not huge, My stomach is flatter and I have a pooch but have a great waist and legs and I have yet to find a dress that will show that off and fit me everywhere. I am starting to think I may have to have something made custom so I can look great. I could wear a medium shirt or sweatshirt if I could get it to close over my chest.

I'm really thinking I'm going to have to find a store that caters to those big busted people you see on TV since their dresses always fit all around.

I took the "smaller" band size in the op's post to mean less hooks.

My DD has the same problem! That sounds like her trying on prom dresses. She said her friends were rolling on the floor. But it is a pain and Thank Goodness for Swim suits sized separately.

For the formal dress try Davids Bridal wear. they have a lot of formal that are reasonable and seem to fit/cut for a full bust. She found 2 homecoming and a dress for a wedding there. the one we had altered to a tea length but fit her beautifully. They have sale racks that are very reasonable.

A conversation between myself (a 36DD) and co-worker A (about a 34DD) and a coworker B (32 Bish) about a year ago:

Me: I tried on this great sundress with a bodice. Get this, it zipped ALL THE WAY UP!

Co-worker A: So when are you going to wear it?

Co-workder B: How do you know she bought it?

Coworker A and I just looked at her blankly. . .if a dress with a nice snug bodice zips all the way up YOU BUY IT because when will you find another one? :rotfl2:

My bra complaints are:

1.) the cups are like loose, flimsy breast plates. I hold them up and think, "Yeah, that's going to do something.", and back it goes.

2.) More and more I'm finding 2 hook closures when I really want/need 3. I'm a 36C and between the breast plates and the 2 hook closures I might as well go au natural.

3.) Too much lace and frills and not enough substance.

4.) Too sheer! Oh my gosh. If I wear a white shirt, "hello"! Why is it so hard to find a bra that isn't a breast plate and isn't sheer? It's really hard to find a bra with a built in lining. Ugh.

5.) No support! I don't need frilly breast plates. I need support! More and more I'm looking for (modified) sports bras. They are comfortable and the bra actually "fees" like it's there! I don't want to jiggle.

7.) Expensive! I really don't want to pay a premium for a bra that doesn't have all the things I'm looking for. Sometimes I'm just ready to say 2 out of 3 isn't so bad. But I haven't yet. I detest bra shopping.

6.) Bra shopping is worse than bathing suit shopping.

Okay. Rant over.

(I will say I have had some luck with Olga.)

My issue is that my chest is too small. I wear a 34A but my chest is not big enough to actually fill out an A cup. Most shirts are made for gals with a B or C cup. The never fit me right.

I too wish women's pants were like men's.

What about buying "the" dress in a size that will zip all the way, then (after making sure it's returnable) taking it to a seamstress for a consultation?

A good, reasonably priced seamstress can be your best friend. I have ****s but narrow shoulders and hips, so any dress automatically needs altering. The same with many jackets, and even blouses.

And since my waist has widened as I age, but my butt is dropping/disappearing, pants can be too wide on the hips/legs, so they often have to be taken in.

It may seem expensive, but so is buying something you like, but not wearing it because it just doesn't look/feel right when you actually put it on to go out.
