Yeah, right.

The scary part is that scams like this would not exist if people didn't fall for them. Someone will respond, someone will send the person money to pay for the release of the larger quantity of money.

And watch some naive person will think this is legit..................LOL. Between the bad grammar & syntax errors, likely he is also not from France. If you actually reply to his email, I will bet he will ask you to pay some kind of 'fee' to be in the running for this supposed windfall he is giving away................yea right. If the person was dying and looking to make a donation, why not give the money to the various charities he mentioned instead of looking to give the money to a complete stranger?

Reminds me of that prince in Africa who was giving away lots of money in the past (also turned ou to be a scam).

Why is it funny that vulnerable people will fall for this?

There just seems to be an almost constant barrage of online scams at the moment. TV licence, car tax, HMRC. E mail, text, what’s app, telephone. It’s relentless. I have unplugged my telephone landline and don’t accept any telephone calls on my mobile, unless I recognise the caller. I sign up to all the services that are supposed to stop this nonsense but still they come through. I do feel sorry for people who are catfished and ‘fall in love’ on line but I also sometimes think, ‘you really should know better’. There by the grace of God I suppose. There is a lot of pressure on banks here to help and in some cases reimburse people who have been scammed and most banking apps now ask you to verify payments and bank accounts.
I am beginning to long for the days when the only ‘nuisance’ calls were the odd Jehovah’s Witness knocking at the door or the tinkers with their suitcases of tut.

I always knew there were people in this word without a conscious. But what I am dumbfounded about, as is revealed by the ridiculously high number of scams over the last many years, is that so MANY people don't have a conscious. That truly terrifies me. How do they look at themselves in the mirror?

The worst are the ones who specifically target the elderly. My dad once called me when I was out of town. He said, "Guess what? I just got a call from my grandson!" His only grandsons were my sons and they were both with me. Luckily, my dad was a very sharp guy, even into his 90s, as well as a retired cop who could immediately spot a scam. His "grandson" said he was in Canada and broke his nose and needed money since his medical insurance wouldn't work there. He also said not to tell his parents since he was supposed to be at college and they didn't know he was taking a trip. My dad played along while the guy told him to buy $5000 in Best Buy gift cards because the Canadian hospital said they would accept them as payment. The guy said he would call back in two hours to get the card numbers. My dad called him a few choice names and hung up.

My mom got the same type of call last year. She decided to play along a little too. The guy said he got arrested and needed money to pay a lawyer. My mom said, "Oh honey! You know I'm scared of lawyers. Don't you remember what happened with your dad?" The guy kind of stuttered and tried to make something up. She hung up on him. The really sad thing is that people do fall for these scams. A friend's mom actually wired thousands of dollars, thinking she was talking to her granddaughter's husband. He said he was in trouble and couldn't tell his family. When her family found out, they were surprised she fell for it. Besides being a huge jerk, the guy must have been a pretty smooth talker.

I prayed for a lotto win from God also....then I saw folks spending their stimulus checks on scratch off...pray answered.
