It's time for a quick trip down to the World for our new obsession- pin trading! We've recently started trading pins on our trips and jumped at the opportunity to attend Mickey's Pin-tiquities at Epcot. The trip is fast approaching, and I still need to make a few arrangements. We travel down to DW from Tennessee so much that I usually feel comfortable making a few last minute plans.

The Cast of Characters
  • Jordan- me, 26, Disney researcher and lover when we're home, lover of the Maelstrom
  • Sean- hubby, 29, most often located in Germany drinking a Spaten or trying to drag me onto Misson Space: orange

The When and How
We're planning to fly out of Knoxville on Thursday, June 25 to arrive in Orlando that evening. The plan is to dump the luggage at the room and head over to Epcot for Extra Magic Hours (until midnight!). We usually drive down but figured this would be easiest since it's just the two of us this trip. My stepson is vacationing with his mom this week so we can't take him. :(

BUT, flying means we'll get back home on Sunday, June 28 in the early afternoon. That drive home always stinks - mostly because we don't want to leave - and we're tired.

The Room
We're staying at All-Star Sports, which is becoming like home since we've stayed there a few times! I waited too long to make reservations at Pop Century and don't want to pay a ton for a moderate resort. Sean and I will spend the majority of the time in the parks anyways. Where we stay is never a huge deal. That may change if a little one comes along however.

The Food
I haven't made any reservations yet, but we're considering eating at the Rose and Crown on Friday, June 26 for dinner. It would be a first for us, and I've heard that the view is great for IllumiNations. We're pretty flexible, so I'm not too worried about it. Give Sean a good beer and something semi-unhealthy to eat and he's fine. The same goes for me and the sweets in France.

Itinerary
I'm still working through the itinerary, but I do know that the majority of our time will be spent in Epcot at the Pin-tiquities event. I do hope to get to the other parks when we have a chance. We both have an AP so we can hop around as we please. I mostly want to get on all of the rides that we can in each of the parks. We have streamlined our plan of attack on the parks in the past and don't take too long to linger. We've seen it, done it, and enjoyed almost everything. I do have to get a little shopping in though. :)

We're busy tonight filling out our RSPs for the event. I've carefully selected 5 that I think I would feel comfortable paying for should we "win" them. I'm a little confused how this whole process works, and I'm really hoping we're not disappointed when we get there.

We've caused quite a stir with our pictures on Facebook this week. My avatar shows me in one of plush NASA helmets in the Mission Space gift shop. Sean has the same picture, but I think he looks goofier than me. :rotfl:

I'll have to post those on here when I can get to Sean's desktop. He's hogging it.

Up next: I need to make the flight arrangements, ADRs and get the pups boarded. Aaaagghh.

...isn't going to happen! Yay! I'm so freaking excited I don't have to fly two weeks in a row. I have a work trip the week before, and I wasn't looking forward to flying to Orlando, even though my DH would be right by my side.

The deal with no flight is that Allegiant Air, though it sounds like a great deal on the surface, is ridiculous.

$156.00 for the flight ($39/person one way)
$64 in taxes and fees
$44 to choose our seats!!
$30 to check one bag (there and back)

Then...we have to drive an hour north to Knoxville and pay $72 to park our car for 4 days. So $366 give or take to fly. Instead, we'll fill up the good ol' Subaru for around $160 TOTAL for the drive. I'll spend the $200 on PINS or put that towards paying to have 3 dogs :dog2: :dog2: :dog2: boarded. Ugh.

I was hoping to get a reservation at Rose and Crown on Friday, June 26, but there was nothing available for dinner. :(

Instead, we're eating at Biergarten (for the millionth time), but we're completely ok with that. As you can see below...
