We were supposed to be going the first week of may, but plans are changing, and we're going to go the week the kids get out of school.
June 24-29.
I know it's HOT, but is it also humid at this time too?
And what is everyone's tips on keeping cool! Thanks
I'm very excited to go at this time because it is the week of dd7 and dd5's birthdays:dance3:
But I just want to be prepared

Hi...our 1st trip was in June and it was very hot and humid. I remember the guy at the airport saying it was unusually humid even for them. Then our 2nd year we went in July and it was normal hot and then last year we also went in July and it was very hot and humid again. The heat certainly wouldn't keep me away from going to Disney. I'd rather be hot than cold. Those spray misters are great to use....my girls love them. Drink lots of fluids, get relief from the A/C in the stores and a lot of the rides. The hardest part to cool off is AK because there is no air in that park. I would also recommend taking breaks...maybe hit the parks in the morning...then head back to swim and then go back at night. I don't know if that helped. Have a great trip!!

We went this past year from June 9-17 and I did not think the heat was too bad. We are from WV and used to the humidity. A few things we did to "beat the heat" were start early in the day, take a break mid day to swim or nap, and then we would go back out for dinner and stay until close at one of the parks. We actually had quite a bit of rain during this time. Make sure to drink plenty of water!:drinking1

I went to WDW in Dec. for the first time. I love going in the summer. you know exactly what to expect. Hot and humid! I love it:love: Take advantage of the early MORNING hours, because it doesn't cool off at night until around 3am. We take a washcloth to wipe faces down, misting fans, extra socks and shoes. I alternated shoes every other day and changed socks at least 2x a day. Get wet as often as possible!

My wife says the waterbottle fans were a life saver for her, didn't matter too much to me though. I would suggest getting one off site as they were like $15.00 or so on site.

We went last year in May, and it was already hot (high 90's) and humid. This was during the big wildfire season last year. The area had gone a record number of days without rain, and there were wildfires everywhere.

I agre with the other posters....go early, leave for a swim, shower, rest, nap anything to get out of the parks, and the mid day heat. Go back for a nice air conditoned dinner, and you will feel sooo refreshed for more park touring later in the evening.

I found a wet washcloth on the back of my neck worked wonders, as well as alternating shoes between morning and night. I wore my arch supporting sneakers during the day when we did most of our walking, and switched to supportive sandals at night for less walking, and a chance for my feet to "breathe"

Our trip is in June this year, and it's not the heat that has me worried, it's the crowds.

Thanks for all the advice we're in the middle of switching from April 30 to the last week of June.
Ok so someone mentioned the crowds are what you are fearing!! I have been over february break(president's week) How are the crowds compared to that week?? Also does anyone know what the "crowd level" is from touring plans or tourguide mike? I need to sign up for one of them. Thanks again for the great tips on keeping cool. I'm writing them all down

DH and I took our DS (then 6) and DD5 for our first trip this past June. Reading these boards prior to our trip had me angst-ridden about the heat AND the crowds. Maybe I was so worked into a frenzy that the actual crowd level and temps were anticlimactic! Sure, there were crowds, but none were unmanageable. Lines moved swiftly, and Fastpasses worked for us, since we took the advice of the boards and got our FPs, then rode other (less populated) rides in the vicinity while we waited for our return times.

To deal with the heat, we chose light colored comfy clothes. We each brought 2 pairs of sneakers so we could wear a pair one day, then let that pair "breathe" and wear the other pair the next day.

The kids each had a misting fan and a little backpack big enough for a water bottle and a few snacks. You can get free cups of ice at pretty much any restaurant in any park.

With some advanced planning, both the heat and the crowds are manageable. Don't let the thought of either discourage you from taking that trip!!! We had the time of our lives, and are hoping to go again in June '07.

It's Disney and it's Florida in June...it's going to hot and humid and there are going to be crowds...but it is what it is. There is no use worrying about it. Just make sure you stay hydrated and wear breathable clothing and use lots of sunscreen...you'll be fine!!! It's fun no matter what! :cool1:

Summer break at Disney... you'd only see me there if it was free! ;)

Given how busy the parks will be, my suggestion would be to sign up with tourguidemike.com (in addition to the site is a board sponsor, it's an outstanding resource for planning your trip and your days in the parks).

Another thing you will find in June...not that I minded was that it rained almost every afternoon for a little bit. A quick thundershower seemed to arrive like clockwork around 1 or 2pm. So be sure to bring ponchos.
