We have the free dinning package for 8 nights at the CBR, but we can get the S/D Nurse discount for a balcony room for the same price. I would love to stay closer to Epcot and MGM! This is our honeymoon! We won't have the free dinning, but we really eat just one meal a day. We can charge back to our room at the CBR and can't at S/D. Is it worth it to switch? Would love to hear some advise!

If you don't mind all the little Disney perks (and soaps) than switch. The room will be bigger at S/D, but the resorts aren't "themed". They are your typical deluxe resorts...not Disneyish. If that makes any sence to you. I personnally would stay where you are at.

But the location of the Swan/Dolphin is great. You've got the Boardwalk right there along with quick and easy access to both Epcot and MGM. (I've never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin, but have stayed at the BWV and BC).

and the dining.

Since you are not big eaters, you could use your credits at the signature restaurants and have some really great memorable meals. With 8 credits, I would do 4 Signature dining and then use counter for the other days.

With a family, that is one of the first things in the budget to get cut, so you and Dh will have the opportunity to dine at some of the finer WDW restaurants and not have to worry about kids or the cost.

Yes that is a good price for S/D, but they have offered that rate before and although it is in a great location, you may be able to stay there in the future for the same rate or use rewards.

If it was considerably less, that would have more weight, but the same price and no food, you can't live on love for 8 days! LOL!

My FDH and I would rather have the great location than the Disney soap. If we were bringing his son, it would be a different story. The RN discount just gives us an opportunity to stay at a Deluxe for the same price as a Mod.
Being able to hop on a boat to go to Epcot or MGM is fantastic! I wonder what else we would be missing if we didn't stay 'Disney'? The only thing we would miss might be charging to our room. We still get EMH and they can send packages to the S/D gift shop. Ugh!!!!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

You can't beat the Epcot resort area. The boardwalk area is great. You're just a short walk to epcot for an evening stroll at World Showcase. Great dining choices everywhere.

I would go with the Dolphin......Oh! We are. DW is a nurse also. :cool1:

Have a great trip.

I am getting conflicting advise! Hahahaha! I think we might switch to the S/D, the location is just too good to pass up. We are paying rack rate for the package at CBR. We just don't eat alot when we are on vacation. Usually split a meal and appetizer. The location would be far worth the free dining. Since this will be our honeymmon and just the 2 of us, it makes more sense. I know we won't be able to go back by ourselves without taking his son. The S/D seems so much more romantic! The package just seems to be about the food. But hey, its our honeymoon, we can order room service and sit on the balcony and watch Illumoinations!!!! By the way, we are both RNs :flower: !! Work in psych  !

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I luv you guys!!!!! My FDH thinks I have lost my mind at this point, after 'finally' settling our plans 3 1/2 weeks ago. Maybe I will just suprise him and when he pulls into the CBR, break the news to him. I think not having the dining plan will make our honeymoon even more enjoyable. I was driving myself nutz looking at menus and trying to get the best deal. Now, we can just relax and have a great location and view!!!
Now, how do I get his credit card and change the ressies without him knowing???? ;)

It sounds like you've already made your decision, but just for extra assurance, I would choose S/D over CBR in an instant, wouldn't think twice about it.

For the same price, I would take S/D. The location is wonderful. You said you don't eat much and you get A LOT of food on that dining plan. Good luck! You can't lose either way!

Actually had the nerve to talk to FDH about changing plans....and he agreed!!!! :cool1: I am so psyched!! Just need to decide which to stay at, the Swan or Dolphin. Thanks!!!

I think you made the right choice. The S/D are our favorite WDW resorts. They are truly Deluxe resorts with all the benefits of great location, service & amenities. I like the themeing of them - it's not the same "literal" themeing of a Disney owned resort - It's a "conceptual" type of themeing & I enjoy it.

It's your Honeymoon & you should enjoy the pampering of a truly Deluxe Resort. The Grotto Pool & Hot Tubs are very romantic. Enjoy!

We stayed at the Swan in April 2002. The rooms were great and the proximity on the boats or even walking was great. The Swan was a more intimate (smaller) lobby area, and I chose to stay there based on a previous peek at both resorts. Thought the Swan was classier. However, when I actually stayed there, I found myself having to walk constantly to the dolphin for food/coffee in the am, never saw the pool (at dolphin, and it was too cold to swim on our days), and at the dolphin had to rent a car last day (had to go to the outlets on the way to the airport!). I remember saying, "Next time we'll stay at the dolphin over the swan". If I had a choice based on experience, dolphin...but either one is nice. Another note, our honeymoon was at PORFQ, and I was always a little disappointed we weren't able to afford to stay at a deluxe....so good choice moving. ;)

We got married at the Swan so I vote S/D!!! Hands down! It is so romantic walking along the water and then onto the Boardwalk. Make sure you tell the reservationist that you are on your honeymoon- and tell them at check in. SIng up for starwoods points in advance and ask how much an upgrade would be- they will very often bump you if possible. We had champagne and tuxedo dressed choc strawberries on the balcony the nite of our wedding after a leisurely walk on the boardwalk. So wonderful!

And there is no comparison w/ heavenly beds and those you'll find at a mod!
