We are arriving at WDW on my DS 5th birthday. Is there anything the resorts do/leave in the room to help celebrate his birthday when we arrive? Also I have read about birhtday buttons you can pick up at the parks...I was wondering if you can order these or have them sent to you so that you can have them before you come. His birthday is on our arrival day and I don't think that we will be able to do a park that day, so I was kindof hoping we could get it before we came. Or can you pick them up other places besides a park? Also I am up for hearing any recommendations or suggestions on "must do's" so we can make this one of his most memorable birthdays! BTW we are trying to keep the trip a secret until the morning we leave (his actual birthday). I am still trying to decide the best way to surprise him. Any ideas?? TIA

Do you mean you want the resort to give you something free or you are you wanting to set up and pay for a surprise via Disney Florist or one of the bakeries?

I don't know any way you would get a birthday button other than in the parks. Maybe you could try E-bay or something.:wave2:

If his birthday is arrival day chances are they won't do anything for free. Up until you check in that room could be given to someone else and your surprise would be enjoyed by someone else.

If you want to arrange and pay for something have it arrive after you have checked in. Maybe head out for dinner or the parks and the surprise could be in the room when you return. Just don't expect it to be there when you check in.

Lots of people are celebrating special occasions. Sometimes magic does happen but I would hate to see you dissapointed if you weren't surprised because it was his birthday.

Last Oct, I had Disney Florist deliver a basket for my daughter. It had a stuffed Mickey, autograph book, pen, camera, stickers, a balloon, etc.

On our arrival day, we had spent the day at DTD, and then went to Ohanas for dinner. When we got back to the room from dinner, there was the basket on the table!! My daughter was so surprised and excited - the card was signed from Mickey and the Gang!! She just couldn't believe they knew she was at Disney!!!

Enjoy your trip!!

We celebrated dd's 7th birthday last July at WDW. It was wonderful. We stayed at GF and told them when we made the reservation that we had a birthday girl. When we came back from the parks one day there were balloons, cards and candy for my daughter and also cards (not birthday) from the characters for my other two children. She wore her birthday button and all the restaurants gave her cupcakes (or ice cream at the Sci-Fi). We didn't plan on this and had ordered the Cinderella glass slippers for dinner at 1900 Park Fare , but it was really nice. This year we're celebrating ds's 5th birthday at WDW and are hoping to book a birthday fireworks cruise. WDW knows how to make a birthday special -she even got a birthday phone call from Goofy at LTT. On the other hand I asked about any special birthday things at Universal and the only thing they had to offer was a birthday party that cost over $500! LOL!

That's because Universal not only provides cake and ice cream and character meet/greet but also includes park tickets for all the guests up to 16 people.

For the phone call from Goofy, if you don't run into a CM who takes it upon themselves, just ask. The easiest place to do this is while in a shop that's not too busy. Just chat up a CM out of earshot from your child and ask if they can do the phone call. Hopefully the person will know the extension - we used to have it on speed dial on our phones when I worked there.

I still remember my first experience with the call (didn't know anything about it until this particular day) A family came through the shop and the little girl had on her button and a little tiara and she had a balloon that someone had scribbled "Happy Birthday Brittany" on. As soon as they walked by, this guy I worked with in one quick motion picked up the phone under the counter and hit the number and said, "Are you Brittany?" The little girl looked scared, the family was thrown off, and she hesitantly said yes. He told her, "oh good, we've been looking for you, there's a phone call for you - someone really needs to talk to you." He handed her the phone and within seconds her face just started beaming. The family was whispering, "how did you know her name?" and he nodded at the balloon and they laughed. They started asking, "who's on there? who are you talking to?" and she just giggled, "it's GOOFY! He's singing Happy Birthday!"

From then on I used to LOVE doing that for kids.

Don't know if this helps, but.... a few years ago we stayed at AS Sports when we visited. DD was celebrating her 5th birthday on our arrival day. I mentioned it to CM when I made the reservation -the onlt time I mentioned it to any CM other that when I made PS for CRT. Anyhow, when we checked in at about 6pm there was a balloon bouquet and a card with photo and B-day wishes from Minnie Mouse. DD just about fainted! We had requested nothing, purchased nothing, and expected nothing more than whatever might come our way. Boy, were we impressed! I suspect that has a lot to do with why our family has been back many times since.

I hope a little magic like that comes your way!

Our DD's 14th birthday was on the last day of our 1 week stay @ BC(2002), and I told them when I made the res. There was something in our rooom everyday, cards, balloons, autographed pictures, phone messages, towel animals .ect.

To the OP - when are you going to WDW? I am sure that I have some extra birthday buttons from our trip last December. I would be happy to send one to you. Also, I am taking a "surprise" trip with the kids again this December (DH is being deployed) so if you are not going until later, I could pick up new buttons for you then.

PM me and let me know the date of your trip.
