Please tell me about what we will have in NGW room ... ie

... how good are the hair dryers, soap, shampoo etc?

Is there a coffee maker?

What "extras" come in the room. The only "expensive" hotel we have stayed in is the HRH and they leave cotton balls, Q tips and mouth wash. Does the Contemporary rooms have any of these items in them?

Thanks

We just returned from a NGW room- we are a family of 5 and it was perfect. My kids loved the bathroom! The hairdryer is only 1500 watts. Coffeemakers need to be requested in advance, and you need to provide your own coffee. There were no q-tips, mouthwash, or cottonballs, but there was an ample supply of facial and bath soap, shampoo/conditioner combo, body lotion and shower caps. You also will receive a daily USA Today. We really loved the CR, and will definitely be going back next April!

Isn't the NGW where SOG guests are being placed while their resort is undergoing renovations?

The CR's rooms are the largest in area, 435 sq/ft., of any resorts. The resort is not heavly "Disney themed" but done in a ultra modernistic mode. Back in the 60's when it was designed that was a big thing. Here is a link to pic's of the CR's rooms and FAQ's http://www.wdwig.com/g_contm.htm I love CR and the NGW is closest to MK and the food center. Hope you have a great time.

Yes we are staying there through SoG. I was up[set at first. The Contemporary would be the last deluxe I would pick. The theming just isn't my taste. However all the good reports and the monorail access has my spirits up.

sha_lyn- Can you please give us a detailed report when you get back? I felt the same way as you, but now am REALLY starting to get excited about it! We won't be there til November:(

Anyone have any tips/suggestions/comments on tower rooms. I'm planning to fax a request for MK view and possibly the 11th floor since that's the only suggestion I've had. I've wanted to stay at the Contemporary in the tower since I was 12 (that's 20 years of waiting but who's counting LOL) so I'm very excited to finally be doing it.

I can comment on the Tower Rooms (we stayed there a year and a half ago) We were on the 12th floor MK View and it was AWESOME! I loved it and wish we could afford to stay there again this time.

The rooms are very big and the view is spectacular of the Castle, especially at night (waking up to the view is no small sack of potatoes either! lol)

Anyway, you should absolutely enjoy yourself!

Okay, now questions on Room Requests....what rooms are closest to the towers, any requests??? THANKS!

Ask for a tower room anywhere above the 12th floor and the farthest away from the MK side. We had a room on the 15th (I think) last room on the left (coming off the elevator, farthest from the MK entrance) and it was perfest. Because of the angle you are at from the MK you get a better clearer view from there.

P.S. the earlier you request this the better your chances of getting it (they are hard to come by late)

When would you suggest faxing the request, we arrive on Monday 5/6? I've been told Thursday or Friday...

We stayed in the SGW in January and LOVED it!!! The rooms are huge, with 2 queen sized beds and a day bed. There is a table, dresser, nice TV, plenty of storage space, a big closet, and a huge bathroom! The hairdryers were just fine... they definitely did the job. We had plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion on hand at all times, and plenty of towels. In the closet you will find a full sized iron and an ironing board. There is a safe in the closet as well. We had a great view of Bay Lake, and were on the 3rd floor. If you want a coffee maker, request it ahead of time, and also know that there is a fantastic coffee bar located on the ground floor beneath the escalators of the main building... this is where we got our coffee fix! I think the Contemporary at SoG rates is a deal that just can't be beat!!! Enjoy!!!!

I stayed at the Contemporary over the New Year Holiday, and loved it!!! We were in the tower, on the club level (12th floor). This resort is truly the "DISNEY MAGIC" Resort!

And, for the person who asked about tower rooms. The "Tower Room Park/Bay View" includes Bay view rooms on floors 5-11, and Magic Kingdom view rooms on floors 6-11. The 12th floor is the tower club, there is no 13th floor, and the 14th floor is the tower concierge (where most suites are located). The 15th floor has the California Grill, and no rooms.

We got back from CR about a month ago. First time staying there & enjoyed it very much. We were also a SoG relocation. My suggestions:

Request 1st floor is possible. 2nd & 3rd do not have balconies to walk onto. The sliding doors open, but you can't step outside.

If you have children request a room that faces the playground. If they are old enough they can go out there themselves & you can watch them from your room.

Request a room close to the main buildiing, especially if you are going to do refillable mugs, which I recommend. This way you are close to the Food & Fun Center & the arcade, which my kids loved.

Laundry is on the 2nd floor across the hall from 7210.

No problem getting soaps & extra toilettries. We requested a fridge, which came in handy. $10 extra a day.

We rented a car, however, took the monorail to Epcot & really enjoyed that & we always took the walkway to MK. We timed it one day. It was exactly 7 minutes to get from the park exit back to our room. It is an enjoyable walk & just long enough to finish the Mickey bar you can pick up on the way out!!!

I think you'll like the Contemporary. We really did & we were a little skeptical also.

laurenk ... I will make a trip report. It might take me awhile though.

Melanie Boniszewski ... I can't decide if I want to do like you suggested and get a 1st floor room or try for a 3rd floor MK view.

Can you see the MK from the 3rd floor Garden Wing room??

I am not sure if you can, or not. I know that there are 3rd floor rooms that face the MK, but I am not sure if the view is very good. It think they look at the tennis courts and parking lots, but you might, if you get a 3rd floor standard parking lot view that faces the front, be able to see a little of MK.

We had a 2nd floor that faced Bay Lake so I can't comment on the MK view. However, we got to see the water pagent every night & my kids along w/ my niece really enjoyed that.

We stayed at CO last summer in the Wing furthest from the pool,
which one is that?? Anyway, we faced the lake and marina and the Water Pagent passed us every night!! It was really a great
view, I think I would rather have an excellent view of that than just a bit piece of the castle. Enjoy wherever you are at!!!

I agree with Melsmice and Gabylin... we also enjoyed our view of Bay Lake and watching the Electrical Water Pageant at night. I really don't think you can see enough of the MK from the garden/wing rooms to count on it. I would definitely prefer a great view of the lake.
