I think that co-host the first year for American Idol was Brian Dunkleman (sp?). Seemed to recall he made a guest appearance during one of the final shows in the past couple of years, but no idea what else he might have done after moving on.

As for Vanna, her contract supposedly goes a year beyond Pat Sajak's. So, IF they decide to keep her on, which would be good, so as not to lose both long-term co-hosts on the show at the same time or right after each other, she is in a powerful negotiating position to re-new her contract.

TMZ sources say that Vanna does very, very much want to keep doing the show. Her lawyer is negotiating a new contract for her since it is up next year. He said for the last 41 years of the show Vanna has done it with not a single raise the whole time.

Pat Sajak is currently getting about $15 million.

Vanna has been getting $3 million the whole time.

When they come out at the beginning of the show, BOTH Pat & Vanna come out at the same time, arm & arm. The announcer of the show says, "Here are the STARS of the show, Pat Sajak and Vanna White," where they are both introduced as being equals. Not, "Here is THE HOST Pat Sajak with Vanna White," or something that infers that Vanna is less than Pat.

Vanna's lawyer is now saying that Vanna should receive at least half of what Pat is getting: $7.5 million going forward. He says Vanna says she is not just doing it for herself, but on behalf of all women, as they should be paid more equal to men.

He also claims that Vanna is the more recognizable face of WOF.

But the heads of Sony & the Merv Griffin company are being really nasty about negotiations and not wanting to give her more.

I just view her role differently because it's not as skilled as hosting and actually talking throughout the show. It's not like they were doing the same job all along.

TMZ is about as reputable as reading National Enquirer. Their reporting always seems so sleazy and how knows if they just make up some of the things they say?

Historically, they have been quite accurate in their reporting of what turns out to be FACTS they get.

They also make hypotheses which they state when they make guesses, AND when they are simply re-stating info already in the news from other sources, they STATE the source they get it from, as in, "The National Inquirer says that. . ." which could be where the sleazy element comes from, when they report sources who are less than reputable. Their job is to report ALL entertainment stories & rumors that are out there. Even the ones being talked about from sleazy sources. And they will debunk those stories once they get more accurate info.

I only watch one entertainment tabloid news show, and since they report about stories gleaned from other sources, they tend to be where I state I get my info from.

I haven't seen you give any sources for info on entertainment news in these threads that you post on. If you have BETTER, more ACCURATE info, have at it! POST THEM! I know I am always up for more juicy, accurate entertainment gossip to chat about here.

For the record: I annotate/cite all sources I get my info from on almost all my posts as I was taught to do in junior high school and college. That includes entertainment news or world news, as especially in these times where "alternate facts" are being presented and some people don't seem to realize some news shows and anchors aren't real, factual or accurate.

Stating one's sources gives everyone a chance to do their own research or at the very least, have an understanding the "facts" from a source may or may not be accurate. Feel free to use my info or NOT. That's why I state my sources. If (general) you have alternate info, great, state it! State your source. More for all of us to chat about.

I do think she has always been a trophy side piece on the show. I am surprised that she has never gotten a raise though, even like a quarter of a million here and there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony uses this as an excuse to re-vamp the appearance of the whole show. Getting rid of Vanna's role completely, and making the wheel more high tech and modernized.

She always had the ability to move on and do something else or slip into retirement if she didn't like her salary. Perhaps she doesn't have enough saved to maintain her existing lifestyle and didn't really see where she could get the same kind of salary elsewhere. I don't think those commercials for gold and silver pay all that well...

Vanna makes more money from her face being used on Vegas slots than she does on WOF. Her demanding more money for something a child could do, is just greedy.

Dan Abrams, one of ABC News' expert legal consultants says Vanna's lawyer says she wants to renegotiate her current contract "to stay through the transition."

Abrams had a guest on his show who said that Vanna hasn't received a raise in 18 years, not the full 41 years previously stated.

Entertainment Tonight verifies that, although both Abrams & ET state their source is Puck. (No clue who or what that is.) ET also mentioned that some of their info came from TMZ. So, at this point everyone is reporting what some other source said.

(I actually feel better that she actually had at least one raise 18 years ago. )

That's exactly what Dan Abrams brought up. That even if their roles are called the same, "co-hosts," Pat clearly does way more work. Then Abrams showed old video footage of an interview Vanna did with ABC, where she admits she's very shy. She says she doesn't talk very much.

Eeps, Vanna, Sony now has footage where you admitted you know you don't do that much work on the show.
