I'm not really sure what to say but here goes...
Ryan and I met through a friend in my Sorority (Alpha Sigma Tau) while I was attending school in January 2007. I didn't like him very much because he was kind of cocky. He came down to visit me and all of our friends pretty much every weekend and I was apparently the only person that didn't know he was coming down because he really liked me. We started dating March 27, 2007 and it has been wonderful ever since... with a few bumps in the road. He is from a suburb of Chicago, IL and I am from Normal, IL; only a two-hour drive but still kinda difficult to see each other as much as we would like to (which would be every day
).
Last summer for our "anniversary" he took me to Daytona Beach, FL for a week!! It was soooo nice to get away from work and everything and just be able to relax a bit. Since he brought me on the vacation I insisted on buying him dinner one of the nights that we were out. So the second day we were there we went to this extremely nice restaurant that overlooked the harbor and had a great dinner. We were staying at a resort on the beachfront so when we got back after dinner we decided to go for a walk down the beach. At one point we sat down and were just talking when all of a sudden he says "I really like you a lot and kinda wanna keep you around for a while sooooo... will you marry me?" I was shocked (even though I figured it was coming... i did NOT expect it on the trip) and said yes... he made it a point to keep the ring closed in the box so that i would say yes to him not the ring (even though he didn't need to...)
Most of my family is from Texas and his is in Chicago, so naturally we were thinking about doing a Chicago wedding because it would be the easiest for people from Texas to fly into and people to drive to the city, but it was getting very frustrating talking to my mom about how would we get my grandparents from a hotel to the site and the reception, etc. I knew someone that had had a Disney wedding about 5 years ago and figured 'well it doesn't hurt to look' and when I found out that this would be a better deal than ANYTHING i was finding near the city I was sold!!! I have been a Disney fan my entire life and LOVE going to WDW...but don't have the opportunity to go very often at all!!!
We decided with summer 2010 because I will be student teaching this fall (2009) and will be able to try and find a job and everything by then and hopefully save up some more $$$ by July... July 15 was just a random day that we decided on during our very first appt. last December with the WC.
I wasn't quite sure where to start so I got on the Wishbook and started playing
. I contacted Disney Weddings and booked the initial planning appointment for December 23, 2008 and we had an AMAZING time. While we were there we decided a few details:
Ceremony site - Sea Breeze Point
Reception - Boardwalk BallRoom
I would LOVE to have an Illuminations dessert party but don't think it's in the budget
I would also LOVE to have Cinderella's coach but I'll have to come up with that extra $$ on my own since my parents have already told me that there is no way...
We are planning on making it back down there this December (hopefully over NYE) to do some tastings and floral and planning the last details. I am thinking we're going to do a Mad Hatter type reception with one of those funky cakes!!!
Not very sure about colors or flowers or really anything else...
I'm planning on having 4 BM and a MOH wearing this dress from Davids Bridal... I love the clover but am not sold on it yet...
Not quite sure what else to put so far buuut feel free to comment!!!!
(I tried to put in pictures... but have no idea if they're gonna show... sorry if they don't)
