RV's March 17th, 2007 Eastern "Sharing the Magic with the Unmagic'ed" Cruise

Hey RV...

That excursion... did you think it would have left you plenty of time (weather permitting) to also try and get in the tram ride up to the top of the mountain or whatever it was that is there???

Also... what did you do for lunch?

Hey Tink! :wave2:

I think there would be time to take in Paradise Point afterwards because I do believe my good friend DisneyPoor did it. You can read her account of her St. Thomas/St. John day on page three of her trip report, but hopefully she'll chime in here and give you some more info.

As for lunch, we didn't do anything... we waited until we got back to the ship and we were starving as you can imagine. I believe it was after 1:30pm or 2pm. Not everyone would want to do that, but I don't know what I would suggest for lunch. Sorry.

Thanks RV!!!

It's my first cruise and I was hoping to go to a beautiful beach and then maybe do some shopping or something...

Trunk Bay just looks too good to be true!!! :thumbsup2

Oooh...I missed this morning and got a twofer! Great job!

Was there an excursion where you could stay longer at the beach in St John? It seems like you just got there and had to leave....I'd rather have longer beach time! :beach:

Hi, everyone. I was on the same cruise as RV, and we also did the St. John excursion. We wanted to also do an island tour when we returned from St. John but found out there wasn't time for that. We decided to go to Paradise Point Tramway, and some of the people that went on the excursion to St. John with us opted to shop instead.

As for having enough time at St. John, I felt the amount of time was appropriate. However, I've read where some people do this excursion on their own so that they can have more time for the beach. However, a couple of hours of beach time is enough for me.;) Plus, I was too chicken to try it on our own for the first time. The ferry ride over was very entertaining though, and we all enjoyed it.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

RV....we were fortunate enough to have spent 1 week in St. Thomas, and went to Trunk Bay for the day.....ended up with sun-burned eyelids....notice the tree line, fell asleep in the shade, and awoke in the sun!!! :sad2: bad for me.

Cute pic of the Fairy Godmother...how cool is that.

We are thinking of doing the St John Island tour, but man does Trunk Bay sound inviting.

The title to the next installment has me intrigued........

Keep up the good work

Sorry RV... gotta ask Disneypoor a ??????

Approx what time did you get back from St. Johns and were you able to do any shopping, etc. after you did the Tramway???? I know it's not a long trip up, but we were going to try doing something like that and then walk around a bit if possible...

I wanted to share some second hand information from our March 07 Eastern.
We signed up for the Scuba trip at Castaway Cay. It was the first time that I had done any serious scuba and the first time at all for DS13. There were some other divers on the excursion who had done the St. Johns' scuba and were now doing the Castaway - They said the dive at Castaway was much better. I wish that I could personally attest one way or the other to this, but we didn't dive at St. Johns. There suggestion was dive at Castaway and just enjoy the beach at Trunk. Anyone else with similar experience? I'm just thinking ahead to my next DCL - Eastern (sill working on the DW)
PS: We did the Regatta at St. Martins. RV - your FIL and MIL would NOT have enjoyed, but it you ever get back to St.M, I would highly recommend.
Glad to see the two new posts!
Keep it up the great trip reporting and I love the pictures of the food (making me hungry as I eat my "frozen dinner" lunch), but when are we going to see pictures of MIL and FIL. I keep picturing Grant Wood's American Gothic -
Anyone for a pitchfork with a Hidden Mickey in it?

Subscribing to catch the rest of the report, I'm really enjoying it so far! This will be our first family trip (dd will only be 18 months) so we were thinking to not get off the boat at St. Thomas/St. John - but now I'm considering going to St. John.

I can't remember the exact time we got back from St. John, but we would have had time to shop a little after Paradise Point if we had wanted to. It was pouring down rain when the taxi dropped us off at the tender, so we decided to just call it a day. We hadn't even eaten lunch yet, so we went back to the ship, cleaned up, had some lunch, and relaxed a little before the show. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

It does....thanks... I just don't want to be one of those people who plan badly and end up running down the pier chasing the leaving ship!!! :scared1:

I have been reading these boards for weeks trying to plan our 11/24/2007 Eastern trip on the Magic, and this is the first time I have felt the need to post. Your report is so thoroughly entertaining and helpful on so many levels! I have made many "notes to self" on what to do/what not to do on our cruise (first one EVER!). I have already instructed my DH that he needs to read all of it when he gets home today. Keep up the great work!!:cool1:

Love reading your trip report! :3dglasses It's like being there :)

I am really enjoying your report. Cant wait to hear more!

I leave in one week. Maybe you can do another posting before I leave? No pressure......
