RV rental in the Orlando area

Anybody ever rent an RV in Orlando to camp in the fort? Any recommendations?

We checked out doing it but found that after the rental fee and other charges it was cheaper to rent a cabin (after AP discount). So we have not reconsidered it since.

there is a Cruise America rental place off the osceola parkway about 6 miles from wdw, but i don't know their prices....we went up there last weekend to run some errands and it caught my eye

try cruiseamerica.com and see what you can find..i don't know if it would be cheaper than renting a cabin

the ony time we rented an rv was years ago to go to a college football game and it was over $500 for the weekend..

try www.onfreewheels.com they will deliver an RV or travel trailer to FW and set it up for you. depending on the model you choose, I think they average about $90 per night. (that's what I remember after checking last July) I remeber that for my family (of 5) it would still be cheaper than staying at ASMu family suites. Plus you have the freedom of camping and the savings in food if you are willing to cook some of your meals at your site.

We are looking to rent a pop up. I am getting nervous about tent camping in June.

It's expensive to rent from CruiseAmerica. I am borrowing a popup from a friend--you might try that, if you can.

Thanks for the advice...we have friends going with us that will be sleeping in a popup so they should be comfortable. We are concerned however with rain entering our tent.

We are picking up a 5 person rv from Cruise America on the 19th. It is myself, son 5 yrs, and daughter ~20 mos. We have it for 3 nights and is costing us $785 ($500 of that is a security deposit that we will get back as long as we dont trash it).

I believe we have to do a tour and watch a video that will last 30-60 mins. Im hoping to get out of the video as I have rv experience, and my dad will be joining us in his rv. What I am not happy about is that pickup is between 1-4. I called to see if we could get it earlier since that will be a park day for us, but all they said was that we'd have to call at 9 that morning to see if our rv is even in, and then it has to be cleaned. I will not be happy if I have to leave a park in the middle of the day to go get it, bring it back to Ft Wilderness, and then get back to the park. I know my kids will not be happy about it! Wish I wouldve known about On Free Wheels-would be nice to have it delievered! The other thing, unless you get the packages, you need to bring your own bedding, etc. Sort of a pain when having to pack for 2 little ones already!

Sorry, I just came back to this thread and realized you had a question. No, we have not rented from them. For our upcoming trip, I was curious as to the cost of flying down and renting a travel trailer vs. driving our RV for 14 hours with three small shildren. I checked them out just on a whim. (gas prices were about 3.20 at the time and our fuel cost would have been about the same as airfare) I spoke with them on the phone and was very impressed. They have been doing this for quite some time. If a pop-up is all you are looking for, you might inquire as to their smallest travel trailer as I don't recall seeing pop-ups.
