Rv parking

We Will be traveling south next trip in a motorhome. We would like to stop off at DVC Hilton head and spend a few nights in a room.
What is the parking situation like there for an RV? Have any of you members done that?

Also we plan to travel down to Boardwalk and spend a few nights in a room there too. We have seen motorhomes parked in the lot near the security check point as you drive-in on the left. Does anyone know how this works?

And for the curious minds… yes will be also spending time at Fort wilderness.

In general, the Campground at Fort Wilderness was designed to accommodate guests who like to travel in an RV. Guests could hook up and not have to unpack into a resort room. Plus the spirit of the Old West is alive at this campground.

As for the other resorts, they do not have to let you park an RV on site. It is up to the manager of security to determine if it is safe for you to park your RV at the resort you are staying at based on different factors. They could ask you to park your RV at the overflow lot near Ft. Wilderness for free during your stay. You would then drop your RV off in this lot and head either to a park or your resort.

I have seen RV's parked at the moderate resorts. And you saw them parked at BWV. I recently read here on the DISBoards that a family was unhappy that at AKV they had to park in the lot far from their villa because they had a handicapped child. I expect unless the resort is booked to overflowing, RV parking would be allowed. But you might have to park in a specific location.

IIRC, that family was staying at AKV and their van was too large to fit in the underground parking area.

Here is the Thread. It was never quite clear the extent of the issue. The OP seemed to suggest that 2 of the kids were handicapped but then didn't request a HC unit and only made requests. It wasn't even totally clear IIRC (didn't review the entire thread) that they had made it for medical reasons. It really sounded like the 7 kids was more the issue than the restrictions for a specific child but I don't know for certain. My guess was they explained their wants and situation to MS without specifically stating it was for medical reasons and it never got entered as such. They should have booked the HC unit from what I saw.

IIRC all of the DVC resorts have an exclusion in the POS (I know all that have seen the info on do) on RV's over a certain length. I think RV parking is officially at the outer lots for Ft. Wilderness and the PO lot. I know sometimes they've allowed parking at BWV and AKV but I don't think these are official lots for RV's and not to be counted on during busier times.

True, but there is parking for RVs available in the public lots (near The Kingfisher restaurant) just before you go across the bridge to the resort.

I would park there, walk across the bridge(about 50 yards), and check in at the resort. If you have a lot of "stuff", there are luggage carts available at the resort to help transport to your villa.
