We received two quotes when we purchased the trailer. One from progressive and one from American Adventure Insurance with the underwriter as National General Insurance. The National General quote was less by $150. I'm just leery because I had not heard of this company. Anyone use them?? We usually just go with a local agent. Thanks

1) Go with National General since you save $150.
2) Their previous name was GMAC Insurance, until July 2013.
. . . formerly GMAC Insurance
. . . GMAC Insurance founded in 1939
. . . one of the largest automobile insurers in the United States
. . . company headquarters is located in Winston-Salem, NC
. . . best known for its auto insurance and RV coverages
. . . offers several other insurance products including personal and business insurance.
3) This is why the name is not instantly recognizable - yet.

While you are quoting, look at The Hartford. I was impressed with their prices compared to National General (GMAC) and I was with Progressive at the time and the renewal had a near 500 dollar increase for the year.

We have used Foremost for years and have never had a problem. Just another suggestion

We have National General and just had a pretty substantial claim on our fifth wheel. Absolutely no issues with them and they paid quickly and fairly.

Do a search on JD Powers on rv insurance. They rated USAA No. 1 (but you must be in the military, retired/discharged from the military or immediate family of military personnel). They rated Amica No. 2. We switched to Amica 2 years ago and have been very happy so far.

We were with GMAC for years with no problems. Then they switched to National General and suddenly our premium more than doubled for no reason whatsoever. We ended up switching to State Farm and getting insurance cheaper than what we had been paying with GMAC, BUT we bundled our house and two cars along with the RV at State Farm to get the cheaper price.

I never had to file a claim and was only with National General for a few months but when I called to find out what was going on with my bill it was painful, their service reps were absolutely awful to deal with. But that was right after the switchover, one can only hope they have gotten better!

We have been with Progressive for 10 years and our rates have been steady over that period of time. We are 'very' satisfied with them.

Had hail damage a couple years ago on a trip with our MH and they were very generous and prompt with the payment. Also needed a new windshield on our previous MH - someone came out, replaced it very promptly. Had to be towed because of a fuel problem on our diesel - again no issues. Very happy!

Have used Nationwide for about 14 years and cover everything I have. Home, auto, shop, jetski, tractor, rv, etc. Have never had an issue and rates have been constant.

Had major awning damage in 2012 at the Fort. Adjuster was onsite next day and mobile repairs cleared and okayed by that evening. No complaints at all here.

Nationwide not good with commercials though...

I dunno... Aren't they the ones that you just sing their jingle and a Nationwide agent appears like a genie and gets you out of a difficult situation? I kind of like that idea. Maybe if I were a client I could sing their jingle and tell my agent I need to go to Fort Wilderness and *poof* :goodvibes
