RV 2009 on HGTV 3/8/09

I thought I heard that...the comment about the mini van?...:confused3 WTH was she talking about?...None of these families seemed to have a clue as to what they were getting in to. :rolleyes1

Dh said he didn't want to be anywhere near any of them on the road!! :lmao:

Like I said above, it is downright painful listening to people who know nothing about RVing produce an RV show! It's almost as bad as listening to a newbie explain the rules on FastPasses! That was a 28' TOY HAULER and they said they could tow it with their minivan! Sure! You can tow it, I would recommend a maximum safe speed of 6 mph!... you just can't stop it or control it!

They must have gotten their script mixed up and were talking about the 10' toy hauler that was featured next, but even that is probably pushing the limits of most minivans when loaded. Sure wouldn't want to try to tow it with a couple of Harley's in it!

RV Show in Atlantic City was small yet painful. Not a lot of vendors there. Nice RV's especially the newer travel trailers with high-end extensions for lofts and bunks. Maybe 4- pop-ups, 10 hybrids (Jayco and Kodiak only). We did like the new Kodiak pop-out tent, nice material and roomy. Few park models and couple 5th wheels and many Class A's.

Prices were not too bad for what u get but most units at show were sold already. I m talking retail in high $100g  down to $70-80g. Did not see the Veranda model though. :guilty:

Whole show took us maybe 90 min. Then off to casinos and boardwalk.....beautiful 70 deg weather here ......for March in Jersey :cool2:

We are ready to camp now with nice dreams of the future. :thumbsup2

What was equally stupid about the host's comment about towing a toy hauler with a mini-van were the potential buyers agreeing with her.

I sent the following e-mail to HGTV, cause that one comment alone totally ripped me:

"After viewing the 2009 RV show on 3/8/09, I cannot believe you allowed the comment regarding the family towing a toy hauler with a mini van. If you wish to have the show hosted by someone totally ignorant about RV's, that's your prerogative. However, when you use someone who knows nothing about RV's, please have someone in the wings to educate the host or to edit out ignorant and potentially dangerous comments."

HGTV disclaimer.
Viewer discretion is advised, anything you see may be moranic from morans.

I tried watching it, but fell asleep. I was annoyed at how there were no "normal" units. Everything was luxury, except for the pop ups, and those still weren't anything that I think most people would buy. I too wish they would bring back RvTv.

I caught that obvious screw up too (how could they pull that big of a trailer with their minivan?) I noticed this year's program/RV2009 was very similar to last year's... I mean with the premise of prospective campers shopping for the right RV for them. I kept hoping they wouldn't buy anything so I don't have to fight 'em for ressies at the Fort LOL. I really liked the Toy Haulers although they didn't spend enough time showing 'em (the one that had two queen-sized fold down bunks in the back particularly). That motorhome with the golf cart "garage" was cool too. Way too pricey for me though!

This is what it was. T@B. http://www.tab-rv.com/. It had the add a room on it. The T@B is what clkelly has.

ok thanks. the quick second i had to see it, just didn't look like the tab. i mean it looked like it was a tab frame with tent walls. not the add a room.

then it looks like i didn't miss anything.

i wished they would have shown more of the smaller units. that veranda at the end for $789,000 or whatever it was, is a little out of my price range. although, i could probably tow it with my hhr.

I kept saying to my dh that the show must have been geared mainly toward the wealthy. They showed very few campers that would be in my price range. And the families seemed totally clueless about camping at all. I really hope that one family doesn't try to pull anything the host suggested with their mini-van!!!! Dh and I just looked at each other like, "did she just say that they could tow THAT with a MINI-VAN!?!?". That's an hour of my life I will never get back.... :sad2:

DH and I looked at each other like what the **** is she talking about. There is no way they could pull that with a mini van.

The other thing that cracked me up about the show was the "biking" family that opened the compartment on the side or back of one of the trailers and then said, "Yeah, the bikes wouldn't fit here" No kidding:sad2:
