Hi guys and welcome to my planning journal
Today we finally got confirmation on our wedding! We can now officially say that we are getting married at the Wedding Pavillion on the 4th of October 2011.
I've been lurking and reading other peoples PJs and alot have started with themselves and their partners so I figured I should do the same...
My names Ruth and my husband to be is James. We're both in our 20's and live in Derbyshire, UK. We've been together round about 3 years and met at a supermarket where we both worked at the time. We didn't start going out with each other until after he gained promotion and moved to another store within the same company.
Six months after we got together we went to Disney Land Paris for a few days. On a first day there we went straight to the castle, when we got their I turned round to find James on one knee with a ring in his hand
Of course I said yes....
Very soon after we moved in together and have since collected a little reptile family consisting of a corn snake called Harvey, two bearded dragons called Ezio & Link and most recently we got a veiled chameleon called.....*drumroll*... Pascal.
Eventually it came to the time where we wanted to plan the wedding and living in the Uk a wedding abroad wasn't really on the agenda, so we looked at local venues. I had my eye on a place called Newstead Abbey which had beautiful gardens and some rather beautiful peacocks strutting around.
However plans soon changed when we went to WDW in the february of 2010. It was my first time in Florida and I instantly fell in love with the whole place. Whilst we were there we got a glimpse of the WP and we joked about getting married there. I initially dismissed the idea of a disney wedding becase I didn't think I'd convince my parents to come along.
Back at home and the idea of getting married in Disney kept bugging me until we decided that we should talk to my parents about it. So one day I went round to my parents house to discuss this possiblilty with them not feeling to hopeful seeing as my parents have never flown. I spoke to my sister first in private and then my mum who loved the idea of going to Florida. My Dad would be the hard nut to crack.
Looking back at this I sort of feel a little cruel - I told my Dad to sit down because I had some big news. Waiting for my moment I told him I was pregnant! The look on his face was priceless. After a minute or two I decided to set him straight by saying "Not really Dad! I want to get married in Florida, Isn't that better then being pregnant?!"
Dad actually suprised me by agreeing to come and slowly as the weeks/months draw by he seems more happy about the trip over the Florida.
So there we are, the right people are on board (Me & James, both parents and my sister and his sister who are both going to be bridesmaids)
I already have my dress (Though I can't post pics of that yet, can't let certain people see it lol), my tiara, shoes, rings and jewellry.
We're now waiting for a wedding planner to be assigned to us - can't wait!
I'll pop up some photo's later when I can figure out how best to do it x
