DH and I have been to Somona county several times, we occasionally venture over to Napa county too.
The food/wine pairings at J are interesting, it's a fun way to taste, since some wines are really different with food instead of on it's own.
If you like champagne, the tour at Schramsburg is wonderful. It's $25 a person and you will need to call ahead for reservations. This was my favorite stop on our trip last June.
If you are fans of Charles Schulz/Peanuts, the Charles Schulz museum is in Santa Rosa and takes a couple hours to see.
For great picnic lunches, try the Oakville Grocery, there is one in Napa county in Oakville, and one in Healdsburg in Sonoma county. Several wineries have nice picnic areas, some also have bocce courts. can be fun if the weather is nice.
restaurant recommendation - Willi's in Healdsburg. great tapas, casual but fun.
have a great time!
