Any trick to get to Dumbo fast first thing in the morning with 3 little kids???? :wave2:

Is the train an interesting alternative or should we just run through Main Street?

The train will be of no value in a "rush" to Dumbo. It would take MUCH longer to get there riding the train.

Best advice is to get to MK at LEAST 30 minutes before sched. open time (EMH or reg.)
Then, just walk quickly (no running is allowed) directly to Dumbo when they drop the rope and get in the queue.

You'll be fine.

we were there this past friday, and were in the Crystal Palace. we didn't get out until about 920, and slowly made our way to fantasy land figuring we were already in for a huge dumbo line up. we didn't even look at it, we went to pooh first and walked right on...then we went past dumbo on our way to ariels grotto, and lo and behold, it was a short line. we had to wait for 4 loads/rotations before we got on, it was relatively quick. maybe 15 minutes? anyway if u aren't the first ones back there, u should still have a short (for dumbo) line up. of course if u are going at christmas or other huge crowd time that could be different....

basically i am just saying: don't loose hope. :O)

It really isn't that hard to get on Dumbo early. We never get to the park before rope drop but usually get there just about at opening time. We head first to Dumbo but sometimes have to stop to get a signature or two on the way :rolleyes1 . We've never had a problem with a line if we go there first.

You should have NO problem during the 1st, 2 hours or so getting/riding Dumbo and other small capacity rides in Fantasyland.

This is a vacation...right?? :rotfl2:

Let the family/kids "Enjoy" the "Magic" :wizard: on your way to/through the Castle...to Fantasyland...at their speed, not yours!! :thumbsup2

You really don't have to rush to get to Dumbo. There is a minimal wait for the first 30-60 minutes the park is open ... no matter when you go. Just make sure you get to the park when it opens, or slightly before opening.

I would suggest very early breakfast reservations at CP and then get right over to Dumbo. Funny thing, when I took my 3 year old niece in Oct she had zero interest in that ride, she wanted the rollercoasters!

We did the Dumbo Dash the first time this last trip with our 3 yo DD. We were at the entrance about 20 minutes before opening. After the RR/opening show, walk briskly to and through Cindy's castle. There will be another rope there with about 50-100 people. When that rope drops, head right for Dumbo. You will probably be on the first or second ride. People are right, the wait for Dumbo is "Short" for the first hour or so, but "short" is 15-20 minutes, and to me, any time wasted on this ride that is the most pedestrian and the shortest (maybe 90 seconds) ride in the park is too long, but in the end it is a classic, and a MUST-DO if you have little kids. We were off this ride by 9:05 (park opened at 9 AM) and able to enjoy the rest of fantasyland. We went to Cindy's carosel next with no line, and by the time we were off that, there were at least 100 people in line for Dumbo. We then walked on Pooh, Peter Pan, and Small World, so doing Dumbo 1st does not hurt your chances on the other FantasyL rides.

Other posters..please don't flame me for calling Dumbo pedestrian...I just mean that for how unique and magical most Disney rides are, of all of them Dumbo most reminds me of a "county fair" ride. That being said, we rode it both times we visited as a couple, no kids, but would never wait more than 30 minutes.

OK, flame on!

During our June trip with DD, we got there just a little after rope drop and got our picture taken with Donald, then next to the partners statue, then made it to Dumbo and it was just a twenty minute wait. This was the first time DD saw MK so we didn't want her to remember it as this big crazy production.

My best advice is to make sure your kids have already seen some characters and gotten some autographs before your MK day. Hopefully then they will be willing to walk past all the characters they will see on the way to Dumbo! Getting autographs is such a time-eater. You definately don't want to waste time on it during the first few hours in the park when there are such short waits for rides. But it is hard to get little ones to walk straight past all their favorite characters!
We like to do a character dinner the first night we arrive. Then the next day they are willing to do the Dumbo dash!
Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Agree with other posters. Get there for rope drop, see the opening show and walk straight to Dumbo. You might wait 10 minutes max, but here's the good news....In Oct I was doing this with 3 DDs and everyone in the Dumbo line got a Dream Fastpass! Good luck.

DS6 & I did Teacups first and made it to Dumbo after 2 rides on the "cups" and only had about a 20 minute wait. Not a big problem with crowds.

We also get an early (1st ADR time possible, an hour before park opening) ADR for CP and then get to the interior rope drop about 5-10 minutes prior to the rope drop. When we went straight there, we were on the first cycle, when we woke up Tink we waited about 15 minutes.

When we where there last January, Dumbo didn't even start running until about 30 minutes after the rest of Fantasyland - not sure what the hold up was, but we ended up riding Pooh and Small World before Dumbo even opened.

Here's a question for those of you with little ones who like thrill rides: DD is tall enought to do Space Mountain now, but she still wants to do Dumbo (and I don't think it's worth any time waiting). If we do SM first, will that put us too far behind to walk onto most of Fantasyland?

Many people are not even mentioning the morning EMH. I would hit Fantasyland and Dumbo and PP first then head over to SM. The EMH at MK is the best time to do Dumbo and those rides. We did the children one that they had in AUg and in a half an hour we did four rides (and we didn't get there until 8:30) At Sm you can always get a FP to SM and then ride Buzz

I love AM EMH's, especially at MK.

But not everyone can attend EMH (off-property guests or not being at that park on an EMH day).

I find arriving very early at MK and doing the "first-to-Fantasyland" bit works pretty much the same on either EMH or regular hours days.

Regardless of your preferences in popular attractions, of the ones that are operating first-thing in the day, you can ride them much easiler and more often in the early morning.

The train would be too long, and out of the way, your walk from the arrival point in toontown would take time also. Best bet, do the walk from the park opening, a quick step will get you there with little wait time. You and the little ones enjoy the ride.

I find it more enjoyable to go directly to Dumbo and ride with no wait, rather than wander slowly through the Castle and spend 20 to 30 mins waiting with antsy toddlers in line. We THEN go back to the castle and enjoy it. Waiting in line doesn't really help my kids "Enjoy" the magic.

Well, we got there at 9:20am and the line was 20 minutes so...it seems to grow a minute every minute the park is open! :rotfl2:
