Has anyone (anyone's child) ever been to Rush Neurobehavioral Center? Opinions?

Anyplace that has "behavioral" in their name I am skeptical about. I do not have specific knowlege of them, but in a review of their information they seem to "get it" and the fact that they are sponsoring a Michelle Garcia Winner seminar (the leading clinician in the country in social skills) says a lot. ALso they have a significant discussion fo executive function which indicates that they are relatively current in the state of the art.
The fact that they are neurologist led (instead of psychiatrist lead) is a must for selecting a center.
Hopefully someone with first hand information will post but from reviewing the documentation I would give them a grade of B+ to A
Have you considered contacting Kennedy Krieger in Baltimore (part of John Hopkins) they are considered the best in the mid Atlantic region.

Thanks for looking things over. I hadn't looked into Kennedy Krieger but I have considered Yale Child Study, Boston Children's Hospital, and Mapleleaf clinic in Vermont. NYU also has a Child Study.

DS was diagnosed with NLD when he was 5. He's now 10 and really needs to be reevaluated (I also need a second/or confirmatory opinion as he doesn't fit NLD perfectly). There is exactly ONE pediatric neuropsychologist in the upstate NY area that accepts our insurance. Since we need to go out of network and this will be his big evaluation before middle school IEP meeting next year, I wanted it to a thorough one.

Rush is listed on several websites for NLD, but I've yet to find anything where people talked about their experiences there. I also chose Rush over some of the others because they had a shorter waiting time (some have as much as a two year wait) and we have family in the area that we planned on visiting anyway.

I know I can request the school to pay for the eval...and I still may...but I've found that if we can afford to pay for it ourselves (out of topic or with insurance) things go more smoothly.
