Rush Hour

We will be returning home from Anaheim on a Thursday. When does Rush hour start heading North out of LA area. We plan on heading to the park at opening but want to hit I-5 before it becomes a parking lot.

From where I start I'd want to be out of LA by 3pm, so I'd leave by 2pm. I'd add an hour if leaving from DLR. I've done it earlier too, but there can be enough long haul trucks on I-5 to make non-rush hour no picnic any time of day.

As SMD mentioned, 3 pm is when things start to get hairy. In an ideal world, I would like to be past Valencia (where Magic Mountain is) by the time 3 PM rolls around. It's about 65 miles north of DLR

I would time it to be at Downtown LA by 2pm. Any later than that traffic starts building fast....so that would be a 1pm departure from DL.

What time does morning rush hours start? What time should we leave the Disneyland Resort area to avoid it?

What time does evening rush hours END on weekdays? When is it safe to leave the Disneyland Resort area?

We are heading north to northern California

Trying to figure out the best time to leave so we don't feel like we have driven all day. I am just not sure if I want to leave EARLY or LATE. Coming home we have been leaving after 10am but then don't get home until after 7pm and it feels like we have been driving all day (which we have). We leave home by 4am to get to Disneyland by 1pm and it is great because even though it is the same amount of hours it doesn't feel like we have been driving all day.

Evening rush hour ends about 8 pm i would say.

Morning I think depends where you are and where you are going. Maybe 7-10 am. I don't remember the mornings as well since I used to go to work early in the morning.
