Rush hour traffic in Detroit

We have a Friday @ 7:30pm flight scheduled out of DTW in November. We usually cross at Port Huron/Sarnia and take I-94 straight on into the airport. Would we be better off crossing at Windsor rather than driving all the way through Detroit on I-94? Does the Detroit rush hour get as bad as Toronto's and how much additional travel time should we add?

Thanks.

We are leaving in November as well and we live in Chatham, we always take the bridge across to Detroit, if just seems closer for us. Not sure of the traffic at that time of day since we always take the first flight out in the morning.

I drive that route almost everday crossing at the Bluewater Bridge from Sarnia and traffic is not a problem until you are literally at the exit that connects to the Ambassador Bridge, so you'll have some back ups either way.
Personally I'd cross at sarnia/ Port Huron if that is the way you normally go.

I drive from Sarnia to I94 to the Lodge (10) for work. What time would you want to get there...5:30? The traffic has been lighter with all the layoffs in Detroit but I agree it will pick up at I75 over to the airport. If you give your self some extra time (an extra hour) you should be fine. This will also take into account crossing the bridge on a Friday.
