I'm going to WDW early May. I haven't been that time of year before and never needed rain coats. I was curious if I get disposable rain coats does it typically just rain one time a day so 1 a day is plenty? I'm thinking it will be too warm to want to carry around something reuseable and no young kids so no need for a stroller/backpack so thinking disposable rain jacket would be easy to throw in a purse.

On Amazon you can get a 5 pack of disposable ponchos in several colors for $11 bucks. Take a couple in your backpack. They are small and light. If you use one throw it away because you have a spare in your backpack. I got these but there are many more choices.

I’ve gone early to mid May, there wasn’t a lot of rain. Not daily like summer. Watch the forecast before you go.

We've gone many times late April and early May, we even got married there in early May and I will say that it definitely rains and might do so a few times a day.

If you go the disposable rain poncho route, you may want to throw a couple in your purse per day. As PPs have mentioned, it's just unpredictable. It could rain once, multiple times or not at all. It may also be raining in MK but not in EP etc.

I’m cheap, so I bring a disposable and a ziplock bag. I shake it out and let it dry for a few minutes, then it goes in the bag. Reusing isn’t a problem.

Disposable ponchos are great to have for any type of outdoor activity. The ones they sell online are packed in a small bag so they don't take up much space and are ready to use when you need them. Your choice if you reuse them or toss in the trash once the rain stops. Also depends on what you might do when it rains. At Disney if it is going to rain for hours, most people leave the park and return to their hotel. For a brief shower, you can just do some indoor shopping or search out rides that are protected from the rain. Many of the outdoor rides also stop running if there is a bad storm in the area.

Last time we went in May, it only rained for a short period of time and then was sunny after that.

One of our May trips - it rained every single day except our arrival day.

I have started to take a very small umbrella with me at times (which bag am I taking, going out for a few hours vs. all day, chance of rain, etc.).

If you stick it out in the park during a deluge, usually crowds are lower after the storm and humidity goes down.

We've traveled to Disney in June many times. I also don't carry a backpack to the parks -- just a small crossbody purse that holds my phone and a few other small items. I can cram a rain poncho in there as well, but sometimes just put it in my pocket depending on how big the pockets are in my shorts that day. I only carry one poncho at a time because we usually take a break every afternoon, so if I've used my poncho in the morning, I just grab another one when we're back at the room. If it does happen to rain in the morning and I don't want to throw away the poncho because I think there might be more showers before heading back to the room, I'll just shake it off and sort of twist it up and tie it around the strap of my bag so it's hanging by my side and ready to grab if I need it. Honestly, the last few times we've gone, unless there is rain in the forecast for morning or early afternoon, I don't even bother to take a poncho with me in the morning. And even when we get that 4:00 shower, we usually pop into a store or show to let the rain pass and I don't even use the poncho. We've rarely used ponchos on our last few trips (but I always take at least a dozen with me on the trip).

I’ve never heard of a disposable rain jacket- do you mean a disposable poncho?

Rain can be off on so I would not plan on disposing of it until back at your hotel.

You can actually get disposable rain jackets. They have regular sleeves, a drawstring hood, and snaps down the front. I first saw a friend of mine wearing one several years ago and she said she got it at Niagara Falls. She liked it so much, she bought a bunch while she was there. I found them online somewhere and have a dozen or so in my Disney box. I can't remember where I got them, but they do, indeed, exist. I like them better than ponchos, but they were a little more expensive, so I save them for "special" occasions (like all-day rain).
