So I'm not sure if this is the right place, but if it isn't, move it please.

Anyway, my parents (50 and 47) and I (16) are going to run a 5K at the end of September. My mom was an athlete growing up, but has since fallen out of shape. My dad...well I'm not sure about his athletic past. He says he was fast as a kid, but who really knows ;) . I am athletic, but recently dropped my sport because I don't want to play at varasity level. I have weak knees so running isn't exactly my thing (plus my enderance is slightly low...) So back story done, we are in need of a training program. Nothing really professional just something that would help us get ready for the 5K. Especially for my parents, I've run a 5K before, but haven't run in a while.
TIA!

i'll move this to our Events sub-board for more opinions for you....

and applause for your family commiting to being healthier together!

The Couch to 5k program would be a great idea. If anyone in your family finds that is a bit aggressive, you can work through this a bit slower and pick up the pace as able.

Happy training.

Here is a link to the WISH thread for those using C25K training program. You might ask there too.

Most importantly is to have fun doing it. I admire that your family is going ot do this.

Thanks so much guys!!
It's gunna work perfectly for me, well sorta. Beside the fact we have 4 weeks not 8...but I'm changing it a bit.
My parents and I are now signing up for the Race For the Cure 2008 in Chicago! I can't wait!
