Running shoes for high arch...

That was my concern with the Cumulus, but it makes no sense b/c I did go to the Asics site and it suggested for my foot either the Nimbus or the Cumulus. I'm concerned that the Nimbus will be TOO firm though and my biggest issue right now is that I'm having a lot of knee pain and want to make sure I'm getting enough cushion!

Yes, I may have to make a day trip, but funds are low and we have a huge storm headed this way (again!). I wish I were headed to the Expo, but I'm not running the 1/2 until next year, I've got so much knee pain going on, I'll be lucky to run a 5K this summer!

Thanks so much everyone for all your suggestions and advice!! :lovestruc

Late to the game....

Call RoadRunner Sports after reviewing their 'shoe dog' routine. They have a liberal return policy and the folks on the phone would be the exact same person I would want watching me in a store. You may want to look at 2-3 differing pairs and then return the ones not correct. Yes, it is a little costly but honestly you cannot really tell over the phone.

As far as the mens shoe idea.... yes it works, but look for a narrow fit in the description or a narrow shoe. You hav eto make up for the generally wider heal of the male when looking at a men's shoe.

like a pp, i would encourage a fitting at the dear in the headlights look store just to get a feel for you real size.

You can also try Zappos (www.zappos.com). They have a liberal return policy and often free shipping.

I'm very similar -I have high arches, wear an 11 - 11.5 shoe size and have wider feet since I had my daughter.

I went into Roadrunner but like the people here, I used Shoe Dog to educate myself before I went into the store.

I wore Mizuno Wave Rider 13s (11) for my training for the 2011 marathon but discovered that as I got up in milage, I needed a bit longer shoe. Mizuno changed the style of the Wave Rider with the new model and I wasn't happy with it. So I just got a pair of Brooks Ghost (11) for longer runs from Road Runner and I'm happy with them. Same size but Brooks is a roomier shoe in the toebox.

Just got my shoes and was told I have really high arches, fairly neutral and very narrow feet. I tried on a pair of Aisics- I don't even know which model, but I hated them. I ended up with the Nike Pegasus and so far, really like it.

Hey! I've seen you on the 2012 thread, I'm training for the Princess too! :thumbsup2 I ended up with Asics Cumulus. They don't have huge arch support, but I found I needed the cushion for my knees more and they are really working out, I love them. I'll have to try some Pegasus next pair just to see how I like them!
