I did a quick search and found some dated responses but thought security may have changed recently. Can I still run from Disneyland Hotel through Downtown Disney before the parks open? If not is there another safe route nearby? TIA

Not a runner but believe the guest services desk in the lobby has recommended running route maps.

If you run early enough in the morning you can run through Downtown Disney without the guards there. Another route you can take depending on how far you want to go start off by running north on S. Walnut Drive (which is west of the Disneyland Hotel), turn right on W. Ball Rd heading east and right after you go over the 5-Freeway turn right on S. Harbor Blvd heading south. As you are running on Harbor Blvd you'll pass the entrance plaza area that will lead you into either Disneyland and DCA taking you through Downtown Disney back to the Disneyland Hotel, however if you want to go farther you can keep going south on Harbor Blvd until you run into W Katella Ave and make another right heading west. Keep going until you get to S. Walnut Drive and make your final right turn heading back to your starting point. This route or portions of this route have actually been used many times during various runDisney events. Happy running...

YES! I ran in/around the parks yesterday morning. If i need to do around 6, i run the perimeter and then end with and out and back from the harbor side entrance to the DLH and back. It brings back all the feels from running through DTD for runDisney events. You will have to go through security—twice if you do the loop around the hotel. On previous trips, I never encountered security. This year I did—like 3 hours before park opening. I think they are used to runners. I ran past bag check, there my phone on the table and then grabbbed it as I passed under the metal detector. Have a magical morning all around! If you need a shorter route, the run along Katella is nice. Harbor is great, just a lot of stop lights. I’ve run through neighborhoods and even made my way to the reservoir a few times.

Any route you choose, it will be fun and you will encounter several other runners. Enjoy!
