I know this is a shot in the dark, but has anyone stayed at the Pine Mountain, GA campgrounds near Callaway Gardens? DW and I are going next weekend with a group of friends and I normally do my long runs on the weekend. I was curious if they had any running trails at the campgrounds or if the roads there are accessible to runners.

I emailed the campgrounds, but thought I'd take it to people who know running as well. :)

Don't know about Pine Mountain, but there will be a fun 5K run in Warm Springs(close by) on next Friday at 10pm through the holiday Lights.

I did not stay at Pine Mountain but have stayed at Callaway Gardens. I did do a shorter run there. I ran on the streets on the shoulder. It was fine. I would recommend going into Callaway as they have lots of trails and it is fairly flat. It does have potential to be very hilly. Sorry I am not more help.

If you have never been I suggest visiting warm springs, it was beautiful. As for the wild animal safari, I suggest not going. I have never gone and will not because it keeps animals in small cages, is not a sanctuary and has a liger. Sorry that is my advo cat (big cat rescue) coming out.

It is a beautiful area. Hope you can find good running. Also suggest not running on route 27. It is a major road and hilly.

I spoke to someone at the campgrounds and they said they don't have running trails there, but the roads are accommodating to runners. She said they often have 5k people train there. I guess I'll find out next weekend.
