I've seen many reports of people getting up early and walking various decks. Which deck on the Dream works best for exercise pace kind of walking? Is there a place to do some running as well? If I'm walking outside, I like to do some HIT too (walk then sprint then walk). Is there a better deck, place to do this kind of workout?

Thanks!!

There is a running/walking track on Deck 4.

Deck 4 is your best bet. Just know that it is better to go in the morning or evening. During they day part of deck 4 is also the shuffle board and I've seen runners get taken out by kids swinging their shuffle board sticks around.

..just putting this out there so no hate....

there are treadmills that overlook the front of the ship, although I found running on these treadmills difficult because of the sway of the ship. otherwise Deck 4 is the place to be.

I just got off the Fantasy and ran every day while on board, with the exception of embarkation day (when I ran 10 laps around the lake at the Yacht Club at WDW before we left), Castaway Cay day (when I ran the 5K on the island) and disembarkation day. Deck 4 is the best option when you are at sea, no matter the time of day. It's better to go earlier in the morning because it's cooler and there are fewer people, but really any time is good because there will be a strong breeze and each lap as you enter the Forward section of the ship you get a blast of AC. For distance, 2 and 1/2 laps = 1 mile, so each lap = 0.4 miles. For instance, if you want 5.2 miles, then run 13 laps. (I get a towel from the pool deck first and place my ice water bottle and towel at one place and count the laps from there. This also makes it easy to time water stops.) I only run on the treadmill (in the gym in Senses, Deck 11 Forward) if we're in port. The reason for this is the motion of the ship often makes it extremely difficult to run on the treadmill while at sea. But be warned, there may be lots of oblivious walkers on Deck 4, and at times they actually close off sections of it for a short time to do some work. Also, there are some tight turns at either end of the ship, so be careful and use the mirrors on the wall to see around the corners. Also, if you want to run early and want coffee and/or a light breakfast first, Cabanas is normally open 1/2 hour earlier than its normal open time for continental breakfast only.

Thanks to all of you! Looks like Deck 4 it is, and I'll put that in my notes. Gotta do something to help even out all the calories I anticipate eating onboard!

I'm not sure where the ones are that overlook the front of the ship, but I did very much enjoy the ones in the spa on our last trip. Much more pleasant than working out on mine at home.

I agree with previous poster that who put their towel and water bottle down as a way to keep track. We tried to use a marking on the ship itself to keep track of laps, only to find that marking was on both sides of the ship! Sort of lost count! We ran early on the Dream on deck 4 and had no trouble with shuffle board players. We also ordered some room service for breakfast, not only as a wake up, but I need my coffee, some fruit or something light before I run. It was nice to run, then shower and head to breakfast at Cabanas

i ran on the Fantasy using the same strategy as Buzz (towel/water). I actually brought a change of clothes and went straight the to Fitness Center to shower there, allowing my DW and DS to sleep in a bit.

On the Magic and Wonder the Fitness Center is facing forward, but on the Dream and Fantasy it overlooks the Starboard side of the ship.

Imagining this seriously made me laugh so hard, isn't that terrible?
