Running at Poly

I know they have a 1.5 mile jogging trail, but that's not long enough for my DH. Is there any way to run to Wilderness Lodge and then Fort Wilderness from Poly? I can't recall the route and if there are sidewalks along the main road. Thanks!

I posted a reply on your thread on the WISH boards but wanted to do so here in case you check it first or for anyone else with a similar question:

Ah, the long run dilemma, I know it well. I haven't run at the MK resort area other then the half marathon but I see no reason why your husband can't use the surrounding roads. I have walked the road that goes from the Poly to GF so I see no reason why he couldn't run it. I would check out the bird's eye view of Bing Maps to plan a course. It give you more perspective than aerial.

If you have a car or he is willing to travel I would highly recommend him going over to the boardwalk area for a run. I love to go around the Crescent Lake and down the canal towards DHS. It isn't a long run (.8 around the lake + .875 down the canal for a total of 1.675) but it can either be run twice or as part of a longer run that incorporates the longer routes you can find here.

Another run I like is up and down the river at Port Orleans. You'll have to do a couple of laps to get in a medium run or a lot for a long run but it is beautiful. I am not sure if he wants to go travel around to run but if time permits it is a great way to get in some unique runs.

Have a good trip.

No, you can't run from the Polynesian to WL. The road is very congested with buses, cars, etc and your husband would be taking his life in his hands. No sidewalks. If he got up early enough, he might try running over to Shades of Green or even the parking lot at the Polynesian/TTC.

He can run over to the GF, past the Wedding Chapel and over to TTC. Might be able to get three or four miles out of that.

Or take the boat over to WL or Ft Wilderness from the MK.

walked from Polyn to CR once - you can do it.

that said no sidewalks - so you are walking on the sand/dirt - do not and mean do no walk on those roads.

CM use this road to get to work and they drive FAST. you do not have time to get out of the way. so don't get in the way first.

that say would go out the main entrance (for cars) and just walk along that walk. It at least has speed breakers so people will not be driving that fast and walk to WL. (notice walk not run)

All of the pathways at the Poly are not a flat running surface, the whole terrain is full of hills and valleys so it will be a tougher workout than if he were on a treadmill or used to running on a flat road. Plus there are so many different pathways that he could make up his own route and just keep running until he tires out.
