. The trick is to find the right shoe for you---road runner sports has a good trick for this--it involves getting a brown paper bag, getting your foot wet, and stepping on the bag. It will let you know what kind of arch you have, thus what kind of shoe you need--I think they are categorized as neutral, stability, and cushioned. Road Runner Sports is a great resource.
