Runners, New Disney Race

I'm not a runner but I'm trying for this. Not sure if I'll do the 5k or the half yet. DH has ran a 5k before and its our anniversary weekend (27th) so we are planning on running and getting a kid free trip to DLR for the first time. I hope we'll be able to stay at the GCH.

What is the weather generally like in Anaheim in January? I've never been to California!

I'm signed up for this already and also purchased the pin and necklace! :cool1:

Why are there all these Disney races for women???! Lame move disney!!!

That appears to be a widespread misconception regarding this race. All sexes are welcome to run.

This looks like so much fun! I might just have to do it! :) It'd be more of a fun run for me though.

We just registered and are all so excited to do this!

I'm doing the 5K and think it's gonna be so cool to go through the parks at 10:30 at night.

I'm the athletic supporter for the 1/2 marathon for the rest of my crew.

It's going to be a fantastic time. Rates for the Grand CA and Disneyland Hotel are great too. Love that we'll be part of the inaugural event.

My 2 friends from work are sighing up this weekend for this one.. were not long distance runners but plan on training hard and doing our best to do it all running. (with the occational stop for a pic or 3 LOL) Something else to cross off the bucketlist.

I really want to do the 5K because I love night runs!:woohoo: I'm confused by the website, it seems like the hotel rate is included in the $99, but that can't be. Could you explain how it works, and what the hotel rates are for that night, since you seem to have already booked your hotel?

You get a twilight ticket to either DL or DCA with your entry, not a hotel room. With the twilight ticket, you can go to one of the parks from 4pm until closing from either Friday the 27th through Monday the 30th. Although, I wouldn't mind getting the hotel room thrown in instead of the park ticket!:goodvibes

My best friend and I are doing this 1/2. I am also doing the 1/2 over Labor Day Weekend, with my mom.

I like the look of the route for the January, more than the September.

should be interesting.

Thanks for clearing that up! I guess I was confused because the site says,

"The Never Land Family Fun Run 5K features:

* Stay at a Disneyland® Resort, within walking distance from the event and event weekend transportation is included with select Disneyland Resort Good Neighbor Hotel stays."

I'm going to register for this soon.

Still working on building myself up, I think I can do it, its just the financial aspect of it, I still have to wait and see if I can afford it.

This evening I pounded out 3.75 mi at a pace of 1 mi in 15 min, so I'm on my way!! :thumbsup2 A long way to go, but on the right path!!

I wish we could see what they looked like first.

I agree! I considered getting the necklace but I'm not really a jewelry wearer so I decided to save the money for some drinks after the race! :)

That is why I am spending all the money to travel from WA to do it. I LOVE that I will be part of the first Tinker Bell 1/2 and it is my first 1/2 marathon!

Plenty of time to train and some great free resources online with training plans. Also, check you local library for books. You can do it! :cheer2:

I found the company's site that rundisney is using for the travel accomodations. All the costs for the negotiated hotels are listed here and the discounted park tickets as well:
