Hi Guys:wave2:! I'm trying to put together a gift basket of fun little goodies for my friend and I who are both running our first half at Wine & Dine this year! What kind of stuff would everyone enjoying getting?? Requirements: Must be easy to travel with, I'll be brining it all down on the plane!

The best gift would be a coupon for a good massage the next day. Other items could be wipes to put into your bag check bag for after the race, your & her favorite gels/bloks, or even the small trial-size Body Glide.

If it were for me, arnica cream or gel for the sore muscles, feet, and knees.

I don't know if you could get these aheadoftime but i got my BFF and sister and I shoe charms at the expo last time. Same BFF gave me running stuff for Christmas that included a magnet for my car, and a really funny card.

Well....chocolate, of course. (But that's just me!) Other useful things.....blister bandages, special food items for your pre-race meal (e.g. instant oatmeal), maybe some Disney shoe laces.. If you can get to a park or maybe guest services before you give the gift, see if you can snag one of the celebration buttons.

Actually, the massage Appointment is a great idea. I would also throw in some Biofreeze as a nice to have adder. A couple F&W gift cards are nice for the trip through Epcot the following day.

I agree with the travel sized Body Glide! And I also love the shoe charms at the Expo. They are fun and a special little memento for friends running together! It's fun to get headbands that match, or even not, I love the Bondibands headbands at the Expo. You can get little rhinestone decor put on them at the Expo to make them fun. You could put a little note in the gift bags to get them together...

I would also love any kind of chapstick, footcream, gum, headphones, favorite running snacks, and I love the idea of the giftcard to use at the Food and Wine Festival!

So thoughtful of you to do this! Have a great time at the race together!

In addition to stuff for the race or immediately after how about some stuff to remember the trip and race? A running themed picture frame to put one of the pictures in, if it is a woman maybe a running themed necklace or charm if she does charms.

Definitely Body Glide

Also, anything that glows in the dark. Necklaces, wristbands, shoelaces...

I also like Honey Stinger Waffles, GU Gels, and things like that. I think there is only one food stop at mile marker 8, so a running treat is always nice.

Wish I was getting a gift basket.

LOVE the glow idea! Body glide seems to be a pretty consistent response, can someone clue me in??? I've never used it before, is it that good?!

It is kind of like talc and vaseline in a deodorant-style stick. I think it works really well. I don't run more than 5 miles with out it. I assume you know what it is for, but in case others don't ...its to prevent chafing of sweaty parts that rub while you run. You really notice these parts when you take a shower and all the salt gets in the newly raw skin. Ouch!

Another gift idea I just found today... "The ShowerPill" wipes, or some other type of athletic cleansing body wipe. I'm also running W&D and I was looking for a post-race clean-up wipe. I'm guessing that Epcot is going to be one stinky place when the race ends!

How about a recovery bar for after the race, some cool shoe laces, possibly a bondi-band or two, and Body Glide (as mentioned by most others).

Just keep in mind the "nothing new on race day rule" ~ well more of a guideline/suggestion. Even the smallest change like new clothes, nutrition or even shoe laces that are different that you haven't trained with before can wreak havoc on your race.
The glow stuff is fun, and you can always ditch that if it's bothering you.

You'll have to let us know what you decide to put together! Such a great idea!

Not being PC - we call it chub rub - and yes I have a couple chub rub locations.

:rotfl2: I need that for when I'm NOT running too :rotfl2:

So far I'm thinking our goodie bags will consist of fun glow accessories of some sort to wear during the race, F&W Gift Card, Alex and Ani Champion charm bracelet, race day snacks, wipes, chapstick etc, and some sort of headband. I would love to do massages for us the day after the race but I know we are scheduled beyond belief with MB, we might just have to play that one by ear. :confused3Now how to package it all? I love to get crafty so obviously it has to look cute before you open it too! :thumbsup2

Well, since it's W&D--food related--maybe you could find some plain (unused!) take-out containers and decorate them. The divided ones could have one section for pre-race, one section for race day , and one section for post-race!

Yeah....that's the limit of my "craft"-iness! :lmao:

I love, love, love your idea of the Alex and Ani's Champion bracelet! What a PERFECT gift! I collect them and have this one on my wish list now. What a thoughtful and touching memory gift that is! :)

Thank you! I just got my first one from my mother (the disney one, how appropriate) so now I'm growing my collection.
