I just did my first rD event (DL 10k) and now I feel like I'm going through rD withdrawal! This was my first running event, and the process of training all summer and planning the Disneyland trip with my friends was so fun that now I feel kinda bummed it's over.

I am signed up for the Princess 10k with another group of friends, so I have another event to plan/train for. My California friends and I are also talking about doing the DL 10k again next year.

I had so much fun at the event that I got it in my head to try to get a bib for ToT, but my budget won't allow for another trip so soon. Also, I don't know if a rD trip would be as fun if I wasn't running with people I know.

So, what do folks do to quench their rD thirst between races? At this point I figure I can afford two races per year, so signing up for many races will not be an option. Also, I need to remind myself not to push myself too hard, since training for the 10k was my first time back in a workout routine in several years.

Glad to see you had a great runDisney experience! Disney races can be extremely addicting as they are well coordinated events!

To answer your question, I simply start planning my next runDisney event, which is overlapped with our annual family FL vacation. So in essence, I start planning our vacation. :) So I generally have a year in between races . However I other races throughout the year that satisfy my thirst until I return to Disney!

I know the feeling all too well. You plan, your train, you talk and get excited about it for months. A few days and its all over and you are wishing you do it all over again. That's good though. That means that it was well worth everything you put into it.

What I do is not only plan my next RD event but plan my next event period. Something local, something fun and something that isn't too costly.

Doing the RD in Disney world in January...its a tough one to top. I try to plan something totally fun for spring. One time I went to Hawaii!

So always have something on the back burner.

I know that feeling all too well. I would suggest finding local runs that can help pass time. This also helps keep you on track with your training. Good luck:wizard:

I'm in the same boat the 10k at the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon was my first official race ever. Because I'm a right coaster it's a long/expensive trip out out to Disneyland so I'm limiting myself to just the one trip per year.

I'm "quenching my thirst" by giving myself a new goal to work towards. I'm setting my sights on running the 1/2 Marathon at the 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon. Staring down the barrel at 13.1 mile training runs will make the time between now and then just fly by. :)

I'm doing my first test run at the half marathon distance this weekend. It should be interesting for lack of a better word.

Local stuff. 2 weeks after the Disneyland half I had a local 10k already signed up for. And tomorrow I have another.

Of course....I already have the wine and dine planned as well as the wdw half. And yay I just got 5k bibs for hubby and son through one of the official travel providers! Still considering buying a 10k bib for myself as well from the same agency.

For those who think about the longer races at wdw marathon weekend but missed registering, half and full bibs just came back up for sale through rundisney!

Anyway, having it making further plans helps keep you going.

Humm... You don't say.

Awww, screw that! I'm in the for the Half at the Walt Disney World Marathon. :cool1:

Coast-to-coast here I come!

Apparently I don't cope well with withdrawal.

I'm so happy for you!

That's the combo (WDW then DLR) that I just got my coast to coast with. :)

Since I already have the WDW Half scheduled for '15 as a re-do for this year (I was soooo sick), and since I "owe" DH and DS the Avengers 5K, I'll likely sign myself up for that Half, too, and get a C2C in '15 as well. I mean, I'll be there, so I might as well run. Right? :goodvibes
