runDisney tattoo ideas and inspiration

Oh I like this idea! I've struggled with what to do with Dopey as I dislike the character. I could also see a larger Disney design with a diamond representing that challenge, a crown for Princess, etc. I've seen a few like that that I kind of like.

I get a tattoo for every marathon I complete.

Here's my tattoo for the Dopey challenges - I haven't added the other years yet (2024, 2025) but I left room for them.

This is one of my challenges - do I do one general rD tattoo or is it something that evolves over time?

I like the idea of a diamond to represent Dopey (I have the same feelings on the character - even though I've seen some nice Dopey Challenge tattoos). At one point I'd thought of a small Mickey head next to the race distance for each challenge/ race I'd done. I like the idea of maybe using different symbols - diamond for Dopey, Castle for DL? , Chefs hat for W&D? of course at such a small size any symbol would have to be pretty simple.

I love tattoos on other people but they're not for me. Too much of a commitment and at this point I like not having a tattoo. With that said, I love seeing and admiring people's tattoos, especially Disney ones.

So keep these ideas coming!

I always pretend to toy with the idea of a tattoo, and the marathon related one I said I'd get (I won't get it) is 26.2 in Roman numerals: XXVI.II

Too much of a commitment

This is what keeps me from getting a tattoo. It's just so permanent, and I don't know if I'll still want it in 30 years.

I can rule out one for every marathon as I’m at 15 and counting. I’m thinking more along the lines of one for the major goals after I’ve accomplished them so I guess I’ve got to collect ideas AND finish some more races.
I’m thinking something like a unicorn and 26.2 when I finally get to Boston someday, Dopey and 48.6, and someday some rendition of Blackbeard and 100 when I check off that ultra.

I've got ... 8? I didn't show my whole leg - I'm about to put Tokyo on the front and at that point I'll have to move to the other leg for future marathons.

If I ever do Boston - yes, absolutely the unicorn!

Totally get that - it’s why I’ve tended to over think the ones I have (and a future rD one). Ultimately it’s permanent - and that can be good or bad! Because I’m never going to do tattoo removal as that’s much more painful than getting a tattoo (at least according to my brother!)

I saved this one on my phone, as it would be fun to add as I do more races outside Disney. But it would require a lot of real estate!

I don't know if it was this exact tattoos or something similar, but my wife saw this and said it was cool and I should do something like that. But I am a big ol wuss when it comes to needles. So it would definitely need to be something small if I ever get one.

So I was pretty bad about needles too - which is good because if I wasn't I likely would have gotten way too many tattoo in my early 20s

But as @The Expert pointed out up thread - its nothing at all like getting a vaccine or drawing blood - the tattoo needle(s) go into the skin at such a shallow depth that its more of a burning sensation - of course it all depends on where you get them - some locations are more painful than others. My opinion is if you're nervous about adding something permanent to your body - that's a good reason to hold off. If you want a tattoo but are nervous of needles - I'd say try a small one - you'll probably be surprised. I was when I got my first one.

Just got my Dopey tat last Wednesday, it is healing nicely, a little bigger than initially planned, but if I am going to have one on my calf, may as well be able to see it! DW got hers on her hip/upper leg as well. We basically got the image from the inside of the medal for the 2025 Dopey (our first)

I may be biased, but this is my partner’s Dopey tattoo from 2023 (90s theme). I love it.

I’m pretty sure that tattoo says “clveam.” This is what happens when they stop teaching cursive in school.

Love it! That’s one of the more unique Dopey tattoos I’ve seen. I like incorporating the bib number.

Well, that 90s one is just FIRE! (Though I still say it's more 80s than 90s but w/e. It's rad.)

I'd seem some similar ones - I like that they're subtle too - just not 100% sure I wanted to go full on Mickey though still considering - this is one I'd seen that I really liked (with our all the surrounding fireworks) but still a bit too much.

I really like the line of park icons, but if they are big enough to be legible, they just take up too much room for me. I have limited real estate where I'm willing to put this!

I like the "I can go the distance" below the park icons. In that font, it's obvious to a Disney fan that it's a nod to Hercules, but the average person might not pick up on it.

Same - though I've been considering whether to just do the 4 park icons above what I already have (which is the mileage) .

I like the "I can go the distance" below the park icons. In that font, it's obvious to a Disney fan that it's a nod to Hercules, but the average person might not pick up on it.

Yes - similar to my thoughts against going with the Mickey head - I like it subtle or IYKYK. My other Disney-ish tattoos aren't obvious unless you know what it is.
