runDisney Announcement

I learned from the Tinkerbell announcement to not care about RunDisney announcements until after they happen. Hopefully it will be something I like but I am anticipating another who cares moment.

I'm just happy they are not going to drag it out with any clues like they did for Tink. I did enjoy the clues actually, but it was the huge let down that it was mostly for women.

I'll most likely follow up on it after the announcement. As others have said, I was incredibly let down last time. Here's one woman who hates Tinker Bell. I seriously hope it'll be another DL race since I'll never do the Tink.

My dad called run disney today and they said that the Wine and Dine is staying. but couldn't get anything else out what so ever.

I'm already registered for 2012 wine and dine (deferral). I dont think they'd change that.

I could see a shorter holiday race - but not sure of the draw as the marathon is so close a lot of people couldnt justify 2 trips within a couple weeks of each other. Plus I dont think they're trying to boost holiday attendance. Would love a midnight new years 5k or 10k though.

Marathon Monday would be nice - I have an annual pass so it doesnt really affect me, but I remember that one being popular.

I would love to see a new race! I am hoping for one in March/April/May. Although that is highly unlikely timeframe, one can wish. I would like a non-gender specific race.

I'm not picky -- I'm just hoping for a race at WDW that actually fits within my work schedule!

Somehow for the past couple of years (including the upcoming 2012 Princess) Disney has managed to schedule both the Wine and Dine Half and the Princess Half right before my office's annual and semiannual meetings, respectively. Can't take vacation days. Argh.

We shall see. Meanwhile, I'm making mental plans for the 2013 full marathon...!!! Whether these translate into actual plans, who knows. :sunny:

I love the idea of a global medal and Disneyland Paris would be the perfect place! However, we visited this park many years ago and were terribly disappointed. We found the staff uninterested and unfriendly. However, I would go back to run a Disney race!

Happy Running!
Pam

I wouldn't mind Marathon Monday returning as my AP runs out on Saturday 1/7.

Based on the video tease released this evening I would expect a new night event. My guess would be a possible add of a full to the W&D or some event that takes in the MK at night. Does not seem to be a holiday event since the holiday lights were not on.

Don't assume it's night time - maybe the announcement is that marathon weekend events will start at 3:00am instead of 5:30-6:00. :teeth: :scared1:

JK!

I can only imagine what they are planning, I'm thinking that they will say that you can now have photo ops with characters for a small fee. Oh and the water tables will be removed and vending machines will take their place.

From my post over on the Rumors/News board:

I just hope its not Yet Another Misandric Event, a la Princess and Tinkerbell.

I think they're long overdue for a multi-sport event like a duathlon or tri.

A Warrior Dash style race would be awesome...prime for say a Pirate theme. Another Expedition Everest race would be cool too.

I just hope it is long and that this fits a good schedule. Yes, a good schedule is MY schedule. I have been toying with the idea of adding 10 new states to the list in 12 (I know it really should be 12 in 12 but that would mean adding a couple second marathons to the schedule and I am committed to another FL and TX already).

I'll be anxiously following this thread as well!

I've already booked 1 wk at Boardwalk for the Wine & Dine Half!

My plan is to do that as a Long Slow Run, and then hit Toronto on the way home to do the Scotiabank Toronto WaterFront HALF Marathon

Can I ask a stupid question...What exactly is Marathon Monday? I don't guess I've been around long enough to know what it is!:confused3
