RUN! to Sobey's Ontario

Was just a Sobey's to get my gift card and airmiles. When they ran the $200 gift card through it came up with 190 yes 190 airmiles. They thought it might be a corporate glitch as they have nothing to do with the offer at the store level. They sent word to corporate but it may take some time for them to fix it.

I posted this here so it might get noticed and others can reap rewards. Will also post this in the Airmiles Alert thread. Please continue posting airmiles info there.


The offer per the flyer is supposed to be spend $200 get 100AM, spend $100 get 45AM. What I got was more than what I was expecting.

WOW what a score! I wish there was a Sobey's closer .. even if i made the 40 minute drive to get the gift card i wouldn't want to make the trek back to shop .... UNLESS i just turned around and used it !!

We did it and my daughter just did it too. We both got the 190 AMs. Hopefully they don't take them back when they figure out their glitch.

I'm wondering if the glitch is the way the computer has configured the buy $200 get 100 AM AND buy 100 get 45. Maybe they are giving you the 100 AM for getting $200 and then adding another 45 AM for $100 and another 45 AM for $100.

I don't think they will take them back. That would be really poor PR. The cashier I had this morning did say it could take a while for them to show up (ie. don't expect them next Thursday). I hope people will post and let us know when theirs show up.

Sorry, yes it is a Sobey's gift card. One cashier I spoke with thought it was when you spend $200 and use your Sobey's gift card to pay for it you get 100AM bonus. The word spend in the advertising I think should be interpreted as purchase a $200 gift card.

It says "spend $200 on a Sobey's gift card". I don't think that can be interpreted any other way.

I would be prepared for Airmiles to take back the extra. It happened to me the other days. Apparently, Shell had given extra miles out back January ( which I didn't even notice). I happened to be looking at my account in Feb and noticed that some points had been removed for no apparent reason. I contacted Airmiles and they explained that Shell had made an error and they were now correcting the problem. Lol...Apparently the extra 5 Airmiles some people received was worth enough to the company to go through the trouble of retracting them weeks later.

NOOO! Says it isn't so. I'm not really banking on them staying. I was happy to get the 100AM per card that I purchased. Here's hoping they won't remove them and I'll have a nice bonus. Only time will tell. Will post when I know what happens. I actually had Staples remove 2AM from my account when they gave me too many in December.
