i cannot say if this is true or not, however, in spirit of pot stirring will repeat what a Universal Reservationist told me today when i called back with my CC info to secure ressie.

she offered to try & apply my Gold status to the APH ressie, no cigar as expected

she then offered me rack rate @ over $125 more a night to get the upgrade @ PBR, outta my budget this trip

she then told me that soon Loews Gold, etc program would be no more onsite @ Universal & would be replaced by:

Universal First program

further stated she didn't have all the details, did know that current levels/percs would be honored

did indicate that once the change does occur, only a year grace period will be applied unless a qualifying stay is booked...then you got back to square one.

don't shoot the messenger, not sure if true or just an attempt @ an upsale.

Part of this is true.

One of the early e-mails about this said that all status would be honored for 6 months after the change on July 15th. Then, during those 6 months, if a person has just a single stay in a Loews hotel, their status would be honored for an additional 12 months.

So, the way I read it, you can keep your status for the next 18 months as long as you have 1 night in a Loews hotel in the next 6 months.

sounds as though it will give a fair chance as long as all customers are notified.

i didn't get any email from Loews (other than the usual "sale prices" for other properties) over the last few months

I was told by a front desk TM last week that internet access was goignto be free with the new program. The TM did not know at which level, though.
