I wish people in this forum would learn to attend the title of a thread was a ? instead of a ! when posting a rumor. Sure, an ! has more impact but it makes people think that the thread contains something that has been confirmed not something that is possible.

Take for example thread "Pop Century closing!" if one was to read the title you would think it was a definite, but in reality it's just a rumor that came from a CM like so many others. It may be true, it may not be, but there's nothing contained in the thread making it a truth.

In most other forums I read and participate in people are very careful not to infer something is true unless it really is. Here it seems like people are much more interested in creating excitement than an being truthful. As a matter of fact in one restaurant forum I participate in if you stayed something like it's a fact when you have no definite information every one will severely chastised you! The fear is a rumor can cause reality because if people think something is closing they will make plans like it is going to close.

I know everyone won't agree with this but.....

The Pop Century thing really got to me because I love it there and will be there Dec 18th. You are right ...it makes you think " oh maybe I should forget it the quality maybe going down now that they are planning to close it -maybe I should change my plans..." I admit the thought crossed my mind after hearing this "Rumor" on the boards this week. People really should be careful of what they post on here I totally agree...
a ???? mark is alot different than !!!!!

But that's why there is a rumour board. When something is posted here, I just assume that it may be simply a rumour.

ACTUALLY this is the Rumors and NEWS board, so things posted with an "!" could be a news story, not a rumor.

So in that sense, I agree with OP

So there's a pretty good chance that what you read here is a rumour. I don't think the ?/! distinction is necessary. Usually from quickly reading the OP, you can see which category the thread falls under. You don't even need to open the thread to read most of the OPs.

breaking news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we can somehow manage to disagree over question marks and exclamation points.!? and argue over whether the rumors board is even the rumors board at all?????? should we confirm all rumors first?:upsidedow if it is "news" it is all over the place within minutes!!!!!!!!!! so you would not need it here, would you???? :confused3

Sheeesh, the things people will argue about.......:sad2:

This may or may not apply to you OP -but-I seem to notice that sometimes people who post in the Dis boards are um cranky:scared: .
I much prefer it when here when everyone has that warm fuzzy feeling discussing Disney:cloud9: . At least that's what talking about Disney does to me-AND I know someone is going to crack wise about what I just said-but LIKE I Just SAID-it seems sometimes people come here because they don't have a dog to kick at home:confused3 (thankfully).
