Rumors or facts about DCA Magic Morning

Hi everyone.

I'm suddenly planning a trip to Disneyland and had heard rumors of the possibility of some sort of Magic Morning or special access to DCA for people staying at Disney hotels.

We will be there arriving the evening of Sunday July 8th and leaving most likely the morning of Friday July 13th.

Last year we did a similar itinerary and stayed on site and found the Tuesday and Thursday Magic Mornings to be very very helpful.

We're sort of leaning towards staying on site again, but if we knew for certain, or had credible rumors, that Disney hotel guests would get some sort of additional special DCA and/or CarsLand access, it would cement that decision.

So, anyone out there with solid information or rumors as to additional DCA perks for Disney hotel guests?

(I'm already acutely aware of the private entrance at GCH and am assuming that there might be some slight early entrance and/or limited ability to ride Soarin and get WOC FP, as last year, but I'm curious if there's something bigger planned, like a full hour of access to CarsLand.)

Thanks so much!

There have not been any official announcements from Disney about MM at DCA. We've
all heard the rumors, hopefully Disney will make an official announcement soon.

If there are only rumors, I'd love to hear what was rumored, and the source... and an opinion as to how reliable the source is, if you have one.

Personally I have vague recollections of reading something somewhere in the last month, but I don't remember the source, or exactly what they thought might be offered, so I'm kind of at a loss.

(It would be great to be able to re-read those rumors again.)

Please remember, this is rumor or speculation. this is not an official announcement.

The April 3 MiceAge article by Al Lutz is where I first read the rumor:

Lutz doesn't work for Disney. He prints a lot of rumors. Some have come to pass; some have not.

The only fact I can give you is on a visit shortly after the new turnstiles at DCA were opened for use, a CM was cranking the knob on the overhead sign to turn that gate from an exit to enter gate as I was approaching the gate, and I saw one of the things that scrolled by was wording that would designate that gate for early entry. So they've got signage in place if they want to do it.

OK, I think that was probably where I had read the rumors about DCA possibly having Magic Mornings once Cars opens. Thank you.

I'd be very curious to hear if there are any other sources that seem to corroborate Mr. Lutz... anyone?

The best indication of this happening is that the signs over the turnstyles that say Open or Exit, also have a Magic Morning side.

No info, but my family will be there the 8th-14th as well (at DLH also!), and I really hope the rumors are true. I'm patiently waiting for them to release details and hopefully summer AP discounts!

Interesting that we're there at the same time. We have to be in the area for a lacrosse tournament on the 7th and 8th, so it's logical to combine it with a Disneyland trip. (Same thing last year, actually.)

(Side question: Is it correct that if you book through Disney, and there is a promotion or AP discount that's announced later, that they will typically apply the lower price if you call them? I seem to recall that's the case. Is this also true with booking through Costco?)

I recently made a reservation for the GCH for Labor Day weekend and the WDTC rep told me that he didn't know about Carsland specifically, but that starting 6/15 there would be MMs at DCA for DLR hotel guests and AP holders (but that the AP holders had to sign up/reserve in advance and could not just show up). I can't recall the number of days for each but he said that there would be a MM every day for either DL or DCA.

Of course, WDTC reps have also told me in the past that I am getting a bunk bed room, so I take what they say with a grain of salt. ;)

That's a really interesting bit of information, thanks.

I laughed out loud when I got to the last line, too. Nice post.

(Been there, done that, have the t-shirt, and thankfully didn't have to totally blow a gasket to get things sorted out!)

Yes, but if you get into the 30 day cancelation period for packages or the week for room only, it may cost more to change it than the intended savings.

Yes, I was also told this by two separate cm's when I called to ask some questions about our upcoming stay at the DLH. I was told that DCA would have mm Monday, Wednesday and Friday's, DL's mm's would stay the same at Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Second cm I spoke with a few days later said the same thing.

I am with you, the amount of crazy stuff WDTC cm's have told me in the past is pretty amazing, but this one I am feeling a little bit more confident on. I hope so, this is how I got dh' to pony up the money to stay onsite!

That is a lovely bit, thanks for sharing! The reservations for MM for AP holders also makes a tremendous deal of sense, I was wondering how they could possibly hope to control the crowds if they allowed MMs for APs, there's just too many of us. :scratchin

Wow cool about MM for DCA! Looks like Lutz got it right once again! I would say while the AP DCA MM is great, I dont really see it being that busy for it after the first few months. Unless they will be staying at the hotel or live VERY close I dont see that much demand for it once most have done CL! Especially if its going to be more on the weekday. But good idea about reserving it too. I'm guessing its to control the numbers just in case I'm wrong lol.

Do you typically have access to MM on your check in day (if you get there early enough)?

From what I've heard, Magic Mornings for DCA will begin 6/18 (MWF) and is limited to Disneyland Resort Hotel guests. Magic Mornings for multi-day tickets will remain the same.

I haven't heard anything about APs yet.
