Rumors of Light (ROL discussion thread)

LOVE LOVE Nomad Lounge. So fearful that when Pandora opens the secret will be out. We must tell everyone it's awful!! :rolleyes1

I know, right? Maybe the tiki bar in Pandora will be more of a draw so people just keep walking....

We had lunch at Tiffins as well (our second time there). They have the perfect kids steak that my DS will actually eat and I had swordfish, which was amazing.

The table next to me had that whole fish entree. :scared1: It was all I could do to keep DS quiet about it, it was "starring" at him the whole time! :lmao:

Part of me thinks Tiffins prices will keep this from being a truly hard to get ADR even when Pandora opens, but I guess time will tell.

Hey Loungers. So excited to report we've completed our ADRs and room logistics. Yaaay!

Our very first night will be spent at AK, and we have two RoL shows. DH has been checking in to ask, how's the lounge? Any hootenanny going on? (Of course, there's always a little hootenanny!)

I'm thinking of getting a silk coverup and painting some RoL inspired artwork on it. I'd like something a little special to celebrate at Tiffins and our RoL-stravaganza!

Hope y'all are having a great weekend and Happy Mardi Gras! :jester:

So love your idea of painting silk cover .... now I'm thinking we need to do something. Got FP+ for March date so going to AK even though we were doing a Universal day. Please post photos if you do!!!!

Had our Mardi Gras Party last weekend complete with fresh shipped King Cake from NOLA!

So I am toying with going for a long weekend in December to go see ROL and MVMCP. But I just saw something that puzzled me. Wishes is going away? When? That won't affect the party I am assuming. My thought was to get a 3 day ticket and the Party ticket. Go to HS for 1/2 day abnd the party the same day. Spend one day at EPCOT and one day at AK. That way I can see all 4 park in their Christmas garb

Wishes goes away in May. I'm not sure what version of fireworks will be played during MVMCP, maybe something new??

So they have released the info on the website about the Pandora attractions, quick service and lounge.

As predicted Flight of Passage has a height requirement, and its 44".
SO in the family of Space Mountain, EE but less than RnR.
This could affect some families plans since waits and timing at AK likely to be tricky.

Really hope they release soon their plan on if Tiers or not,
this park may take way more planning and time now to do it all,
vs the old "half park day" belief. ***

*** My guess is the end of March when 60 day FP+ could
become available for Pandora we should have the answer.

Ok, I come to the lounge with *actual* Rivers of Light dilemmas - this isn't a drill! Currently, I have both a Tiffins dining package and an FP for our evening in Animal Kingdom for my sister trip in April. Yep, double booked - truth be told more than double booked. :rolleyes1 I've heard that there are people that have had a tough time with seats with the dining packages, but there's not a whole lot of info yet. Do we want to tie ourselves to a ADR? I've wanted to try Tiffins...do I want to tie us to a late FP? Have I missed any lounger reports on ROL? Am I hoarding options due to all the waiting and checking last spring? I keep trying to modify the ROL but it looks so pretty!

I think that my feelings can best be expressed by song. Please sing to the tune of "Let it Go". princess:

The floats glow bright on the river tonight
Not a footprint to be seen.
A kingdom of great animals,
and it looks like it’s a dream
Fast pass or dining package and Dinosaur ride?
Can’t keep them both;
Heaven knows I've tried

Can’t keep them both,
Good seats are key
Make a choice; it will be what it will be
A meal? Good deal?
I don’t quite know!
Well you might know?

Let it go, let it go
Can't keep them both anymore

Let it go, let it go
Modify, then what’s in store?
I do care
what the loungers say
Let the show go on (finally)!
The wait never bothered me anyway...

:worship: Yeah, gonna save that beauty!

I really don't know what to tell you.
Will ramble out loud ....
Most reports are Dining Package seats have a much better angle/view.
Many reports that on any given night (particularly multi show nights) FP+ line is LONG.
Reports that exit/enter between shows is a cluster.
If I had second show on those nights there would be concern.
Not sure what issues you have seen with Dining seats ...
But saw some concerns that if you don't arrive early & line up, seats disappear.
We all know if you are late at Fantasmic they do give away dining seats.
DS LOVES Tiffins and the package can be a great deal ...
But we can eat for 40% off there so couldn't justify package.
We have FP+ and I'm really dreading the process.
Going this weekend so I can let you know how our side works out after.
Don't feel bad about holding until you are 1000% sure of your plans and desires.
When you drop whatever, someone will be thrilled to pick it up.

Question: Is there more than one show the night you are booked?

Yes, originally we had an early dinner booked and it was for first show. I then also booked a later dinner that had the second ROL seating. I have both at this point, but I feel like the latter would work better in terms of touring and making it a more relaxed day. I know (barring any dining issues) we wouldn't be late for the show - it's just not how we roll - but I had heard of it being mostly filled at the outside of the Disney callback time. Again, I know I would get there earlier - just in my nature. 40%! That's amazing! Currently not an option for me! I still think the dining package is a fairly good "deal" given it's a signature restaurant and we wanted to have a couple of "nice" dinning experiences (especially me, since I'm sans kids!). Yes, I forgot that I had heard that the dining package section might have a better angle...Maybe I will hang on until next week and see you report (and others). But you're right, the FP might be a longer line to deal with...

40% is a CM discount .... for now. I think when Pandora opens it may disappear.

I think if I were in your shoes, your girls trip, I would treat myself to Tiffins and hit the better view. Also, I agree with the later show idea, gives you more park time. It's like when we cruise we take the late dining seating so our days aren't rushed.

Enjoy it while you can!

Yes on the park time! It was bumming me out to think about sitting in the ROL seating for an hour so early in the evening. With the later time, we can arrive in the mid afternoon, work around the park with our FPs, then do our Tiffins dinner. I won't schedule anything after dinner, so any buffer time we can watch the tree awakenings and check out the Discovery Island carnival situation, as I've never been in AK at night! We should have some buffer time - we have a 6 thirty reservation for a 9:45 show, so I'm thinking we want to be at the entrance by 9, but I'll keep an eye on such things as things unfold...I really need to just modify ROL/Dinosaur...

Well it was reported on another thread that a second show has been added March 11 - April 22.

I pulled up the website since we go Saturday and I was hoping to avoid the 2 show bottleneck.

So far the Disney site is not showing additional shows.

BUT keep an eye if you were trying for FP+ to see if it does update.

OHHHH, even without ROL, night time at AK is amazing. I did it years ago for EMH and it's not the same park. And now with the Tree Awakenings (BEAUTIFUL) and the music, dancing etc. You will enjoy.

Wanted to come back and share with my loungers!

We saw ROL on March 4 (Saturday) at 7:15. I got my fastpasses the day they became available and the return window was 6:35-7:00 for a 7:15 show. We arrived around 6:35, and the initial line of people had already been let into the theater so we did not have to wait at all to scan our fastpasses. We got seats in the desired area (near the center of the Asia side of the theater, on the stone bleachers with the higher rise, and close to an aisle). My friend ran for drinks at Thirsty River and I kept the seats but that was not a problem at all - CMs knew that seats were being held and they were nice about it. They will give you a lanyard (kind of like the child swap or wait time tracker lanyards) to let you back into the theater if you need to exit and reenter.

We had a great view and I didn't find the seats too uncomfortable.

I took this picture at 6:41:

That was looking across the water to the Dinoland dining package/standby side, which looked full at the time we were seated. At the same time there were plenty of seats in FastPass on the Asia side - I was glad we stuck with fastpass instead of a dining package. I saw on another thread that another Dis-er had a dining package and went into the theater at 5:45.

We loved the show and thought the projections, dancing fountains, and music were all great. I loved the animal barges especially. I will definitely make an effort to see this again on my next trip!

I've heard about it - I can't wait! That's way I want to do our FPs before dinner so we can just float around until we need to get in line. I saw you post above - we're 4/20, and I think when I made our initial dining package ADR, it was only the first show. When I tried the other night I was surprised it was for the second show, but glad, since I think we can better utilize park time!
